Hi all. I am new to this forcum. I was informed of my condition about 20 years ago. I was told there was nothing that really could be done back then, and have done nothing really to get my PCOS under control. My weight has ballooned to 245 and I have massive hair growth on my face and chin. I have been reading about PCOs and found there may be new treatments. I am looking for a doctor in Jacksonville, Florida that can assist me on my journey. Is there anyone who can refer me in the right direction. Side note. I finally became of mother of twins in 2008. That came with the help of clomid. So I do not want any more kids I just want to get my condition under wraps.
Hi - I'm in the same boat as you. My primary care doc doesn't know much about PCOS and recommended that I find an OB/GYN, but I'm thinking that I'd rather see a reproductive endocrinologist.
We have a center in Jax that's totally devoted to PCOS (the doctor recommendation thread has some discussion about it), but I'm thinking about Shands & UF downtown. I live at the beach and work downtown, so it might be easier to have a doc close to work.
Do you know what kind of doctor you're looking for? Please post here if you find someone you recommend!
I think I am going to go to the new clinic. I am going to call tomorrow to try to get an appountment. I have checked around a found two specialist that keeps popping up. Dr. Michael Foxx and Dr. Kevin Winslow. I think I am going to try one of them.
That's great! It seems like people have had wonderful experiences with those doctors
I've decided that I'm going to try the endocrinologists at UF & Shands because I think I have other hormonal things going on in addition to PCOS. I just got the referral today, so I don't yet know how long the wait will be to get in. Hopefully not too long!
I got the referral, but I haven't made the appointment yet. I tell myself that I'm too busy, but I think that I'm also worried about change, or worried that I should just go to the PCOS center, or worried that I might be getting *benefits* from high testosterone that I may not be ready to let go of... It's Friday evening now, so i have a least a few days to go until I can schedule. I'll try to do it on Monday. I can't wait to get on Met.
