My ob-gyn told me I had PCOS but didn't say much more about it aside from I probably won't be able to have kids on my own. She actually seemed quite fed up by my questions.
I'd like to find a doctor in the Manhattan area that could 1. give me a second opinion and 2. help me figure out the best options for me.
If anyone knows of any doctors that they woudl recommend, please please let me know. I'm not sure what kind of doctor I need to see, but if anyone could help I woudl greatly appreciate it.
My Gyn is pretty good, Dr. Betancourt, she first diagnosed me about 7yrs ago. Shes in midtown.
My RE, Dr. Jeffrey Wang, whom I just started going to is very good also. He specializes in pcos patients. He is an associate of Dr. Lobo who is one of the top RE's.
If you need any of there info PM me.

Try Dr. Geoffrey Redmond. He's the only doctor in a decade that was actually willing to treat my illness, yaknow, the way doctors are supposed to do? You would think that in a city like New York there would be a lot of great doctors, but unfortunately, I went to many that either didn't know what PCOS was, outright refused to test me for it when I requested blood tests for it, or finally diagnosed me but refused to medicate me, instead suggesting diet pills or gastric bypass. I only saw Dr. Redmond once so far, but he seemed nice and he knows his stuff and he didn't seem to resent an informed patient (many do). He is pricey and doesn't take insurance but will give you a form to submit to your insurance company if they allow out of network docs. He has a website: http://www.hormonehelpny.com/. Good luck.
Did you try Dr. Lobo at Columbia Center for Reproductive Care? He still sees GYN patients.

Rmt - when I was having trouble getting a GYN appt with him (he reduced the days he was seeing GYN patients), he told me to make the appt for fertility just to get in. Granted, I was already a patient, but that came straight from him. Apparently the office tries to control his schedule.
Hope you like Dr. Stein, but keep this info in your hip pocket in case you need it!

Yes, Dr. Stein sees patients who are not trying to get pregnant (such as myself). and he specializes in pcos. let me know if I can answer any other questions.
I am also a patient of Dr. Stein's, and while I haven't gotten pregnant yet, I find him really knowledgeable about PCOS, really willing to listen, and really thoughtful about his approach to my care. I feel like an individual at his office and not just another patient who's being rushed through the process.
