Default Doctor needed in northern Illinois

Can anyone help? I will be moving to Dixon, Illinois next summer and need a new endo. doctor. I would be willing to drive around an hour if I needed to. Don't really want to drive into Chicago - but I will if there are no other choices. Rockford, Illinois may also be an option. Thanks for your help.

ACK!
I'm sooo sorry, you had emailed me about this and I totally forgot! Ok, my doctor is Dr. David Ehrmann at the University of Chicago. He's one of the top doctors in the field for PCOS. It takes time to get an appointment with him, but he is most definitely worth the wait! The number of the endocrinology clinic is (773)702-6138. When they ask why you want to see him make absolutely sure you specifically state that you have polycystic ovaries syndrome. He used to accept patients as a general practitioner as well, but now he strictly works with PCOS patients.
He's a professor at the medical school there too, so you WILL (not might, will) have to deal with some students. Usually they will be the ones who take your history and what not, then he will come in after they give that to him. They will also be the ones who write your prescriptions, but rest assured NOTHING gets done without his approval and he's more than happy to answer any questions you may have. He's really a great doctor, and he does a lot of studies with the University, so chances are you might be able to get in a study and get some of your tests done for free. (I'm going into his Actos study, getting tons of free tests, plus paid for it.. all to take either a med I was already going to take, or a placebo. I've got insurance so it's not a big deal for me, but these studies can be great for people who otherwise couldn't afford the tests.)
If you want to know anything else, please email me (I swear I won't lose it this time, it's been a busy email week!)

Talking Thank You! Thank you! Thank you!

Thank you! I was just about to post for a doctor in the Chicago area. I just went to my gyno Thursday who diagnosed me with PCOS stating the depo-provera I was on probably caused it/or enhanced my symptoms. He then so "brilliantly" suggested I go back on it. Ummm..... time for a second opinion?

i Recently went to see an endoc. at northwestern hospital and they had the same thing where the student took my history and wrote out per. -- however, I felt like the doctor let the student do all of the work and when she came in to see me she didn't really take the time to ask if i had any questions or anything. Have any of you experienced this as well?

Dr. Ehrmann always asks if I have any questions. He also makes a point of explaining anything the student may have said, as well as explaining my questions to the student cause sometimes they just get that "HUH?!" look on their face! Sometimes he iritates me cause I feel like he's explaining things TOO much (I do a LOT of research on my own), but I just have to remind myself that a lot of people don't know all this stuff. We here at SC are lucky to have so many resources, including each other, to draw from.
