doctor questions Ok, so I think it's highly possible that I have either PCOS or "HAIR-AN."
I'm 22 and under my mother and step-father's health insurance. So, I'd pretty much have to inform my mother that I felt I needed to go to a doctor (I feel more comfortable using the scalp hair loss as an excuse than go into explicit details with her...). I live in TN, and I'm afraid that if I go to a doctor, even a specialty doctor, that they're not necessarily going to be familiar the things that I think I might have, etc.
Has anyone had issues with doctors who weren't familiar with these kinds of things?
Is there a preferable kind of specialty doctor to go to for the first consultation to address my problems?
Edit:
Also, my mother has practically ZERO body hair. Before the hair on my head started thinning, I attributed my body hair to genes from my father. But, the women on my father's side don't largely have hair issues either. All I ever see about heredity with female hair issues talks about the mother's side of the family. So, is it not possible that I have hair issues because of my father's genetics? |
