I am just wondering if we should see an endocrinologist or if we are fine seeing our regular doctors. I actually see a nurse pract., but she has been wonderful. Am i missing something by seeing her and no one else? Does anyone have any ideas or info. on this? Thanks.....

well seening an endo can sometimes help with balancing out hormonal levels. Thats what they deal with. If you are getting results then i would just keep doing what your doing.
Other wise go and see an endo

It couldn't hurt to see an endo at least once, they can be a big help. Then you can decide what is right for you from there.
Good luck!

I just see my family dr. She is great! I did go see an endo one time and for me it was a waste of time. He did not tell me anything or help me with anything that my family dr did not already do. At least now I know!

I think it depends on your family doctor. Mine was completely clueless about PCOS and totally uninterested in learning about it, so I saw an endo who has been very helpful and supportive.Do you feel your questions are being answered and are you receiving support and adequate treatment, those are the real issues.
I'm the same as mlbarry. I just go to my regular doctor. I went to an endo once and it was a complete waste of my time. Honestly, I was pretty frustrated when I left there. She didn't do/tell me anything that I didn't already know. And my regular doctor already had me on met, spiro and bcp's.
I went to an RE once and it was a waste of time. All she did was confirm my GYN's diagnosis of PCOS. I now see a different GYN, but she knows what she's doing.
My PCP had never even HEARD of PCOS until I explained it to him. He did say that he's willing to give me whatever referrals/tests my GYN requires.

I'm seeing my gyn who diagnosed me. She is knowledgeable and she has PCOS too. I feel confident with the care she has provided. I may go to an endocrinologist is I have an increase in symptoms that may need some extra attention.
