It depends on the kind of insurance you have but I did have to have a referral. It wasn't that hard to get! I went to my primary dr and told them that my PCOS was flaring up and out of control. The dr gave me a blank look so I tried to explain it was hormonal and could I please have a referral to an endo. They gave me one with no problem and I've been seeing my endo since last December!
