Okay so I am not new to PCOS, however i have drifted away from the doctors.. Now i have to go back on July 7th. I do not know where to even begin with the Dr. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to be aware of and ask. I always hate going to the dr, due to the fact that nothing ever comes out the way i ever want. any other point is that the dr always wants to revert to birth control. I am tired of them always wanting me to go on birth control.. I want to start focusing on conceving...
sorry for the silly post.. just thought i would see how you all handeled this or if you ever experinced any of this.
thats exactly what my doctor keeps pushing on me and i really don't want to either. i was on birth control for 3 years and when i learned that the longer you were on it the less fertil you become i stopped taking it, but i just learned i have pcos 4 days ago and i don't have my next appt till july 9th and i don't know what i can ask the doctor about instead of bc, so don't feel silly we're all thinking about it too!
Thanks you for the encouarment(sp).... have they put you on metformin? or anything else... they always send me away with lots of meds... and instructions... part of my prob is the missing periods, i can go a year without it! good luck on everything with you! I am always here to talk if you would like
no i haven't been back yet for my 2nd visit so my doc hasn't prescribed anything yet but i'd like to get on something besides bc pills but i don't know much about metformin
everytime i go they have prescribed me a medication to start my period, usually provera or something of the sort, then they gave me metformin. They tell me that it is supposed to help with the cysts, I hope that the can do something more for you than bc pills...
Whenever i went to the dr the second time they sent me for a vaginal ultrasound, and blood work, as well as a glucose test. i hated all of it... but good luck for you!
I also hate going to appointments. I have had good luck with metformin regulating my period and even getting it on a normal schedule. I never went a year without a period but i went months.
I got diagnosed last year with PCOS Hormones after going through about 2/3 blood tests and a scan,At first they wanted to put me on the pill because i was on the depo injection over my wedding last year and it has played havoc with my periods, I was bleeding longer then normal and then i would skip one so the put me on some tablets i can't remember what they are called to stop the bleeding which meant skipping the following month.
I ended up getting a fake positive on a test this year and couldn't believe it as i thought that it wasn't meant to happen but it did to me, So im not going to use the brand we used to to test with.
I am now going through the hospital i just had 21 day bloods taken and my husband has just had a sperm test as we have been trying since may last year. Thankfully my periods are back to normal now. Just have to see if im ovulating if not then in october they will put me on some tablets not sure what ones.
You need to tell your doctor that you don't want to go on the pill and tell them how you really feel. Good luck with everything
xx
