Default Doctors and diet changes

How can I find a doctor who will recommend a strict diet for me? When I was first diagnosed with PCOS, I asked if diet would have any effect, and the nurse practitioner I was seeing said no, just the metformin. But that just doesn't make sense to me.

I would love to try a special diet before going back on the metformin (it made me pretty sick before). But I need something very specific because I'm bad at meal planning. Also my husband will turn up his nose at any diet that doesn't come straight from a doctor.

Any ideas on how to convince a doctor that I need to try some diet changes?

Ask your doctor to refer you to a dietitian/nutritionist...they will do a better job anyway.

Alot of women have had lots of luck with the Insulin Resistance Diet. You link your carbs and protein so you don't get insulin spikes. There is a book out about it. You could do a search in the diet and exercise forum. Good luck!
