Default does Acanthosis Nigracans mean ir is still not controlled?

Hi there -

I wasn't diagnosed IR but have some of the symptoms.

I've been on 1500 of fortamet since Oct 08 and think it's helping some.

My question is that I still notice dark skin on my knuckles and inner thighs. I just realized that this is probably Acanthosis Nigracans and not just normal skin discoloration.

So if I still have this, is it an indication that my IR still is not under control? Or is this just something that I'll have no matter what?

I know some people have had success in clearing it up once they went on met and while it's not super obvious (so it doesn't bother me appearance-wise) I do wonder if that means I need to up my dose or add something like cinnamon or apple cider vinegar as well as get stricter with my diet.

Any ideas? Doctors aren't much help in this dept.
