Default Does Aldactone really work?

Hello everyone!!!! I was just recently placed on aldactone for the treatment of my acne. I was curious if anyone else has tried this type of treatment, and if it worked for you? Please email me and let me know... I have tried everything besides accutane. I am diabetic and I am not allowed to use this type of treatment. Please email me at leanna9@adelphia.net Thanks leanna

Aldactone/Spironolactone has worked for me. Most doctors attribute the clearing of acne primarily to MET, but I've been taking Spiro longer than I've been taking MET. I started taking it in the summer of 2005 and it probably took until Christmas time/January 2006 before I noticed a difference. It takes a while to kick in.

I took it w/o bcp (I had IUD) and it cleared skin up in a month. I also lost a ton of weight. Stopped shedding hair, and although I didn't regrow any, the existing hair grew FAST. I was on 100 mg. I bled all the time though...2 AF a month. This doesn't happen if you're on bcp though usually. Unfortunately, my spiro stopped working forever when I tried to add metformin to "test" a trial of ovulation--even after quitting the met.

I had tried a lot of things too--everything topical prescription & not on the planet plus doxycycline. Nothing ever worked, just made my skin peel or my stomach hurt.

Worth a try...but you can't get pg on Aldactone, it causes birth defects in males.
