Does anyone else get these stains on their panties?
I sometimes get pastel colored green and blue stains on my panties. Happens maybe a few times a month. They are a very pretty patel shade and I am not sure why it happens. I asked my school nurse many years ago why this happens and she said it has to do with my hormone levels. Does anyone know if this is true? Does anybody else get these kinds of stains? Is it something I should be worried about?
Not different colored, but since I was really little I had trouble with too much CM. Just recently found out this was CM. I don't feel so weird anymore now that I know it's from PCOS.
What is CM? Also, what I do is wear pantliners on the days I don't have my periods. It keeps my underwear clean and makes me feel clean as well. Anyone else do that? You should try it, it makes a huge difference!
Also, what I forgot to mention was, these colored stains don't seem to be discharges. They are odorless and like I said before are an unusually pretty pastel color.
I didn't get the colour part ever, but I have had the increased CM since I was younger - early teens. I was very embarassed about it and used to wear panty liners every day also... now I just wear them when I feel uncomfortable. I actually find at times it is so much it feels uncomfortable or not practical to go without wearing a panty liner.

Yeah, before starting met I got the increased mucus too, and I still get the stains even if I can't see any mucus. I wouldn't say it is anything to worry about. Apparently getting your hormones fixed up will make your mucus levels more normal - eg. with me, the amount of mucus has decreased heaps on Metformin, and I have been told from a health care professional that this is a sign that the Met is working.
Hope this helps,
Michelle

By the way, I hated it (mucus) when I was a teenager as well. I had no idea what it was. When I learnt as an adult was it was, I was annoyed that no one had ever told me about it, and that sometimes it can be a sign that everything is working right with your body and sometimes it is a sign that things aren't right and you need to see a doctor.
Some things I wish had been taught in those school health and personal development / sex ed classes, instead of concentrating so much on 'what happens when people have sex'!!! Naming all of the body parts and the stages of conception instead of learning about general health... I feel it wasn't always a well-balanced use of time!!

I'm sitting here crying because I was about to write a post on this...CM...NEVER heard of that before either. THIS has been driving me crazy. For the past year my symptoms got worse over the last year and I didnt know that this was apart of it...I really didnt. I feel heartbroken...but happy at the same time. Once again I learned on here that it isnt JUST me.
I dont know about the colors...maybe your body's chemistry interacting with the dye in you underware...did u try drinking more water?
Thank You Ladies!!

I know exactly what you are talking about. I had it alot when I was a teenager and on into my 20's. I was just reading here where some people said the Metformin/Glucophage will help slow it down. I have been off of Glucophage since February of 2005 because I was pregnant and then nursing. After the baby was born I started seeing the green/blue colors again. I started the Glucophage again this week so we'll see if it goes away.
It's your body chemistry interacting with the dye in your panties. For instance, my black underwear always end up with reddish spots on them. My white underwear always end up with light greenish spots on them (if it's green or yellow, get checked for an infection).
Met helped my CM diminish, too.

wow I had never heard of CM either until now. I've had to wear a pantyliner everyday since I started my period, I was always too embarassed to ask anyone if they had it too. I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one.

I used to get them quite regularly, tinge of yellow rather than green, and used to drive my mum nuts as she had to bleach them to get them white again (she used to be obsessed with getting everything pearly white) but yeah all through my teens I had it, then it just kind of stopped. Don't get it now but it wasn't great at the time.

I totally agree, Michelle! It would have been wonderful to learn more about irregular periods and what they could mean, healthy discharge vs a possible infection, symptoms of PCOS, etc. I spent so much time wondering what was wrong with me, didn't have the internet when I was a teenager (I'm 34) and I didn't talk about that kind of stuff with my friends.
I remember seeing that 'movie' in elementary school where they separated the girls and the boys but I don't remember anything else dealing with periods.
