I was really embarrased to ask the dermatologist about the bumps in my groin area. I just thought of the dermatologist as the zit doctor, it was really weird to have to take my pants off in the dermatologists office!
I just kept reminding myself that I'm sure they have seen things that are a lot worse. -Being overweight adds to my discomfort with undressing for strangers (doctors).
I kept asking every doctor who has seen my H.S. problem "Do you see much of this problem? Do many people have it?" They all have said that they see quite a few people with this condition, if fact they say that have seen cases a lot worse than mine. I really feel sorry for anyone who has this, especially those who have severe cases. It does make me feel better to know that others know what I'm talking about though.
So, don't be afraid to ask you doctor about this nasty problem. I've found my dermatologist and gynocologist to be the most helpful. They are sharing information (test results) to try to find the best treatment for me.
Luckily, I don't have to take my panties off for the doctor to see the bumps on my panty line, but I've had to show my boobs to more people than I care to count!
Good luck. Just remember, they've seen much worse or atleast equally bad.
Yes, I have this too. I'm pretty lucky in that I only have one, and although it's pretty much always there-it's like a pea under the skin near my vagina, painless, unless it turns into a full blown boil (OUCH!)which only happens maybe twice a year.

OHHH boy, have I ever had this problem!! For years I suffered with the horrible boils that were at the beginning of the Mons. I would have to apply guaze over the area to keep the fluid from seeping though my clothes. Sitting was a nightmare and it hurt so bad. I would bathe in epsom salt to attempt to get the boils to drain. I have had these chronically on the Mons, inner thighs, arm pits and under the breast tissue. After losing a considerable amount of weight I am very happy to say that I have not had any of the boils in almost a year. With the insulin resistance under control and diet I do feel that I have made headway in treatment.

Hi it is nice to know I am not the ony one out there I have suffered from hidradenitis suppurativa since 1995 it is very painfull and depressing I have been looking for some one to talk to about this disease so I would not feel so alone if you have any tips I would love to hear from you
I don't have this very badly. I only get an occasional small purple lump on the top of my inner thighs. I didn't have a single one when I was on the pill, but they have just come back again after stopping the pill 4 months ago. I cannot for the life of me squeeze anything out of mine, unlike the ingrown hairs I get in the same place occassionally! Mine are never painful either unless I can't leave them alone, so I just live with it. But I can't understand those of you that get large lumps, must be really suffering. So uncomfy!
Thanks for starting this thread. I think this is something that's very common to PCOS sufferers by the sounds of it!

mine can get pretty painful but luckily the only place i get mine is on my inner thighs. i'm taking minocycline for it right now and it's cleared them up. i still have the pesky purple scars but that's ok. i don't show my legs much anyways. the only thing is i can't take minocycline when we're trying to get pregnant so after my 2 months of clearing things up i'm done with it.

Hi, all. I was just revisiting this post from a few years ago. I'm happy to say that my HS has been pretty well controlled with minocycline for the last 2 years. I rarely get the sore/bumps anymore. Occasionally, the one on my groin area will flare up, but nothing like it used to.
God bless you all who suffer from HS. Wishing you relief.

ugh I have one now on my groin.... is there nothing I can do for it? I can't do epsom salts.... last time I tried that I had a yeast infection from hell.... is there anything else I can do or do I just have to tough it out until it finally goes away?

Hey girls, I have had this problem too. I took a round of minocycline for facial acne about 5 years ago and lucky for me it cleared both the acne and the bumps. I rarely every have problems anymore.
Just a tip I wanted to share-- If you have a boil that is "lancable" you may want to try a potato on the area. I know it sounds crazy but it works and is totally painless. I just take a potato and shred a small amount, put it on the area and cover with gauze and tape it on the area. i have even slept with this on my leg overnight with no mess and no pain. The potato has many enzymes that can draw that infection out and is a great alternative to actually lancing the area--ouch! I am such a wimp that there is no way i could do that to myself. If anyone has any question feel free to pm me.
Sorry to hear you are having this problem. My worst one is in my groin area too. It literally flared up over and over from the time I was 12 until a couple years ago. Now the minoclyne I take everyday keeps it under control. I also had them under my breast pretty bad.
When Mine did flare up I would get a wash cloth and wet it with water as hot as you can stand it and hold it on the area for 15 min to an hour...just however long you can. That helped me. I also put Neosporin, the kind with pain relief, on mine. Good luck.
-I've never heard of the potato thing, but I'll try it if mine comes up again.

I posted this on another thread about hs, but here it goes: I suffered from this for ages (since my teens). I used to get nasty ones on my groin and even on my lady bits which are very uncomfortable and unsexy as hell (lol).
Last year I got my sugar intake under control and reduced my carbs as well. Not a single one for over a year, I have been so happy!
