Does anyone else have this rash? sorry maybe TMI and little long
I have had what they say is a yeast rash under my right breast only (the other is fine) for about 9-10 months now. It will NOT go away. I have tried monastat, difulcan, other creams. The dr's and dermatologists don't know why it won't go away.
I am just recently diagnoses with PCOS. After a few years of arguing with dr's about testing me for PCOS (a nutritionist and my gyno suggested I get tested a few years ago when I had problems with my weight - I was always skinny until about 5-6 years ago when I started gaining and could NOT lose it- anyway then I had problems with cysts - then after taking a break from the pill had to go back on it because after two normal periods I stopped for 4 months until they put me back on the pill- the dr's kept telling me that PCOS didn't exist) so I moved to MI where my new dr finally tested and diagnosed me.
I just started Metaformin (glucophage XP) on Wednesday. Will this help the rash - what have you all done to get rid of it IF any of you have had this. I have never had any sort of a rash like this before and it seems to get better or worse depending on when I get my period. I don't think it is the Yasmin as I have been on it for 2 years now. It gets all dried out then kind of weepy but it really hurts and I am embarrassed of it and my husband keeps telling me how bad it looks.:o Can any of you help me?
I've never had anything like that, but if you have had it that long I think you should get it checked by a dr. ASAP. I'm sure that there is something the dr can give you to clear it up.

Thank you but I have seen 3 dr's and have tried more than 5 different medications.
My obgyn told me what it was back in Jan/Feb. My internist - also worked with it a few times and I have now seen a dermatologist 2 times. All they can say is that they have NO idea why it won't go away but the dermatologist said maybe it was a glucose reaction - but he wasn't sure.
I have heard of glucose in the urine and causing reoccuring yeast infections. I think no matter what you do, if there's something there (such as with the sugar in the urine) causing them that's not killed off by the medicine, you're never going to get rid of it.
Are you keeping it dry under there? You should dry off and then get it extra dry with a blow dryer or something. Change your towel out every day just in case you're reinfecting yourself using a "dirty" towel and try to keep it dry during the day if you're sweating under there. Try not to go without a bra to keep the breast lifted and aired out even when you sleep. You could even go as far as tucking a towel up under there to catch any moisture.
It is possible you're having a glucose reaction and it's highly possible (if that's the case_ the metformin will help with this.
I would suggest taking the metformin for a good month -6weeks and then hitting the infection hard with some meds and see if that helps. But you have to keep it dry too. Remember, yeast breeds in warm moist areas. *nod*

I've had that problem too. I get those rashes in all the creases on my body (I'm obese, so under my tummy, especially) One thing that has really worked for me is Nystatin cream. I think it's used in diaper rashes a lot, but it definitely worked for me, and cleared them up really quickly. If you haven't tried it yet, ask your PCP about it... Maybe it can help you too!! Good luck!

THANK YOU!!!! I will definitely try that! It is just strange as it is the ONLY place that I have it and the Dr's can't figure out why it is only under one breast and not the other
you might want to try goldbond medicated powder, that really helped me. But mine seemed to be caused because of the humid area I was living in at the time. The powder cleared it up but since we have moved to a dryer climate I haven't had the problem.
I've had similar problems for years (under breasts, at waist, behind ears). Many of them cleared up after I went on metformin, but the rash still occurs behind my ears and under one of my breasts. Anti-fungal medicine doesn't work; the only thing my doctor and I have found to be successful is a steroidal liquid called betamethasone diproportionate (I think!). It's a miracle worker: always clears it up in a few days. The rash always comes back, but now I know I can get rid of it quickly.

My grandmother often had the same problem. She would take a wash cloth and cut it in half and palce it on the irritated area, after sprinkling the Gold Bond Medicated Powerder on the area. It always seemed to do the trick for her.
