I am fairly new to this PCOS issue. I have yet to be medically diagnosed, but that is coming up here shortly. I have been doing a lot of research on the topic, and I am aware of the other comorbidities associated with PCOS. All the research that I come across I am finding that women have irregular, abnormal, or absent periods when they have PCOS. However I am the exact oppoiste. I have my period every 28 days...some months the cramping and discomforts that come with periods are worse than others and my bleeding pattern sometimes changes every month, but I am exactly every 28 days. Anyone else have this issue?
AF visits me each 28-34 days. However, I have abdominal obesity, an elevated fasting blood sugar, facial hair, and ultrasound shows multiple follicles on each ovary. So yes, some of us have regular periods. I was worried about it too, but I have been researching, and have found that symptoms and clinical signs vary from woman to woman.
I forgot to add that I was put on bcp at 18 years old after a year and a half of no AF... I stopped taking them when I got married in May 06'. I have been regular since then until the last 2 months when my cycles got longer and I decided to go to the Dr. and she put me on Met.
I've only ever skipped once, and that was around the time I was graduating from college and taking a graduate class....so I suspect that was stress-related. Other than that, my periods come every 28-35 days. I will say that the only abnormal levels I have are high DHEA-S and a wonky LH:FSH ratio.
