Hmmm, mine don't smell like anything. I wonder if it is certain pills. I take the oval Metformin.....
Yuck, and I hate the smell of fish. I probally wouldn't take my Met if it smelled that way...lol...

Oh my goodness!!! I have never smelled my pills before and they DO smell like fish!!! lol!

Oh YEAH! My pills reeked like fish to the point I gagged when I had to take them! Then my pharmacy started carrying a coated version of met with no smell called GLYCON...same medication, different manufacturer. Ask your pharmacy if they carry the meds by any other company..you might luck out like i did!

Weird! I totally did not notice that about my Met until I read this post...then I opened the bottle and took a whiff....FISH! Smells like the wharf at high noon...and the wharf hasn't been cleaned for awhile...and and large man named Stinky with poor hygeine skills is the wharf foreman....okay I'm done. Actually mine's not that bad, I just felt like hyperbole in the morning...
Okay...super weird...because I'm a little strange, I had to open the bottle again to confirm the strength of the fishiness, and now I can't smell ANYTHING. Maybe my fishy smell is so light for these pills that the first opening aired them out temporarily? Hmmm...
And I've now officially devoted too much time to what my pills smell like.

I have the big, generic 1000s, and they don't smell fishy to me. Now, when i first started taking them, my mouth was nearly intolerably nasty tasting, I was in ketosis from the diet switch, and my deodorant stopped working!
Now that my doses are tolerated, and I follow the diet very carefully, my body has stopped the stink, and the pills don't leave a taste.
I won't ever stop taking met because of how gross it was to start!
