Does anyone get sick anytime they spend a few minutes in the sun?
This is a relatively new problem for me. At first I didn't know why I was getting sick, but as we've become more active with Jamie I have noticed a pattern. Anytime I'm out in the sun for more than 10-15 minutes I get sick. I feel sick to my stomach and exhausted. I end up having to go to bed soon after we get back and don't feel like eating. I'm wondering if I'm going to have to stop going out to play with Jamie. I would hate that! He's just learning to climb and slide. He loves the playground. I love taking him, I just hate being so sick and tired afterward.
It really is sucking. I'm sorry you're having problems, too. Does wearing a hat and glasses help much? I might have to buy some. I never wear hats or sunglasses. I think I look funny in hats and I can never find a pair of sunglasses that look quite right on me, but if it means I can go play with the baby I find something even if I do look silly.
Are you taking any medications? Last week I developed a sun rash and I was nauseous. I was only in the sun for about 15 minutes. My Endocrinolgist said that I shouldn't be in direct sunlight for more than 20 minutes a day. I take Metformin and Spironolactone.

I don't get sick, but I get itchy in the spring, like a rash on my face and arms, and then when my skin gets re acquainted with the sun, its ok. But it takes a few months. I am sitting here scratching as we speak, lol.
I'm sorry Laura, that sucks. Maybe mention it to your doc?

The sunglasses have helped the most. And I have a simple base ball cap that I got at Target (I think I look like a goof ball also - but hubby likes it). I get irritated with the heat, but these atleast help with the sun. If I am in the sun with no head covering on, I get extremely nauseous and irritated, and sometimes even dizzy. I know for me it is part of the adrenal fatique - which, with all you have been through would not suprise me if you have (maybe not as extreme as what I have been through - but your no sleeping thing scares me!)

I get heat exhaustion really easy after getting sunstroke on our honeymoon in Las Vegas almost 6 years ago....now I have to wear a hat and sunglasses at all times or I get a migraine / tired / nauseous etc...
No matter how goofy you look I suggest hat and sunglasses...they have lots of varieties out there and like you say as long as you can go out and play who cares what you look like ?
and I would maybe mention it to your doctor next time you are there too

I've been getting sun sickness since I was a teen and kept getting burned on weekends at track meets. I wear a hat and sunglasses and plenty of sunscreen and try and find shade as often as I can.

I have this problem as well, which can be a real problem living in Florida!!! I avoid the sun as much as possible, have cold water with me, sunglasses, a hat, etc.

I have trouble being in the sun for more than a few minutes at a time, too. I have to wear sunglasses at the very least when I leave the house because my eyes are sensitive to light, too. If I'm out for longer than 10 minutes I get a migraine, nausea, start seeing spots, that sort of thing. I wear sunscreen when I leave the house and the first thing I do when we're outdoors is head for shade and make sure I have lots of water with me.
I have a rough time because we live in Hawaii and life revolves around the beach, you know? Next year we're moving back to Arizona, which isn't much better sun-wise. lol

I get a terrible migraine when I am out in the sun or in the car on a sunny day (even if I am not driving).
More than that though, I have been "allergic" to the sun since I was a teenager. I break out in a horribly itchy, bumpy red rash on any skin that is exposed to the sun - regardless of sun screen. My mom has always had the same condition. Never brought it up to the doctor, though I probably should. People think I'm really weird when my husband tells them I am allergic to the sun.

WOW! I've been wondering why I get exhausted after being outside for only an hour or two... even if I've been in the shade most of the time! I'm taking met and I'm wondering if that is part of it. I also get a rash if i'm out too long esp. if its the combo of salt+cholrine+sand+ sunscreen+ sun... (i think i would die if I lived in FL or Hawaii) I thought it was because I'm out of shape!
