Question Does anyone know about implants for BC?

Hi All

Just wondering if anyone knows whether the birth control implants they put under the skin are OK for PCOS.

I am currently taking the progesterone only pill (cerazette). I cannot take a combined pill because I get bad migraines. However I am really bad at remembering to take BCPs. I would rather get an implant and forget about it!

Any knowledge greatfully received

Emma

I think they are ok. My Dr. had mentioned something about it to me, said that it was an option. But I have TERRIBLE side effects on the pill and he said that they can actually be worse with the implant or shot and you don't have the option to stop taking it if the side effects are bad. You mentioned that you got migraines from the pill, so I'd make sure to stress that to your Dr. and see what he has to say about the implant.

The implant, Norplant, has been discontinued in the United States, but I just wanted to say DON'T take depo, it has been known to wreak havoc with PCOS. What about an IUD, either the copper or the progesTIN (Mirena) or progesterone (Progestasert)? Certainly there's not much to remember with those!

Never wrestle with a pig. You both get dirty, and the pig likes it.
