does anyone know of a calcium pill that is easier to swallow, smaller
I need to take 1000 mg of calcium a day, and all calcium pills are huge horse pills, feeling like gagging each time, and the via-active womens chocolate chews are gross to me. any suggestions? I d not drink a lot of mik, not fond of it.

OMG, I KNOW! I started noticing my tooth enamel was getting thinner. I saw my dentist and realized I had other problems as well. You always think about the excess hair, the crazy periods, infertility, and the obvious day to day things we deal with in having PCOS but until that happened to my teeth, I didn't realize how much calcium plays a part in women with PCOS too. Fortunately I caught it early and no major damage was done and so I started taking a supplement to prevent any further issues as much as possible. But like you, I'd gag, every time. I finally had to throw them away because I almost choked once and it scared the crap outta me. I thought it was odd how your everyday multi vitamin doesn't have calcium in it, but I couldn't deal with the calcium pill. I was looking at GNC one day and saw the womens ultra mega. It's got lots of good stuff in it, including 50% of your daily calcium. It's still a big pill, but not like a calcium pill. The problem is that they're like 20 bucks. I did find womens ultra at Wal Mart. Same exact thing as GNC's, only 6 bucks instead! I've been taking them for a few months now and like it. It has all your stuff you'd find in a regular multi vitamin, plus the calcium, plus some other herbal stuff that a lot of us PCOSers take anyway. So although it's only half of your daily calcium needs, you should be able to get the rest from your daily food intake w/o much problem and w/o having to drink milk. It could come from cheese or yogurt or cottage cheese, etc.
I take a chewable Calcium supplement. The ones I take are caramel flavored. I think they are better than the chocolate ones. I don't take the vi-active ones, but something similar that is cheaper.

I actually just started taking calcium. My brand is Adora, from Whole Foods Market. Unlike Viactiv, these are small chocolate squares (real chocolate about the size of chocolate "coins" - perfect for after dinner) with 500 mg of calcium, plus vitamins D and K. They weren't super-expensive, just under $7 for 30. They do have 30 calories, 2 g of fat and real sugar but I don't have a problem with small amounts of refined carbs. They also lack that "vitamin" taste that Viactiv has.
