Okay, I just had to ask. Because I have severe Psoriasis, and I didn't get it until after I was diagnosed with PCOS, I have to ask if anyone else who has PCOS has this skin disorder too? Mine is all over my fingers, top part of my hand, and all over my feet. I have to wear socks to keep my feet covered always. It is even on my toes. I can't wear sandals because it is just to embarrasing. It is awful. Unfortunately, I can't cover my hands up, I wish I could sometimes. And, boy when I touch paper, it sure seems to flare up. I just had to find out if there are other PCOSers who have the same thing.

Hi Susan,
I also have psoriasis. Mine is on my scalp though, and behind my ears. Also beside my nose and above my eyebrows. I went to a dermatologist and she was able to prescribe a foam and shampoo for my particular needs. I also went on Wellbutrin to deal with anxiety/depression. Did you know that stress and other emotional strain can make psoriasis worse!? When I treated it and tried to focus on de-stressing (i.e. meditation, prayer, etc)..it got better. I hope you can get good treatment for yours, my thoughts are with you.

Yep, I have psoriasis/eczema. The two go hand in hand really. I've had them both all my life. The worst spots are through my hair, my feet and my hands.
Coal tar shampoo helps, as does coal tar soap. A naturopath friend of mine made me a cream once for a big patch of stress eczema I had inside my elbow, and it was just sorbolene, lavendar essential oil and chamomile essential oil. I used it for about two weeks and the patch went, and has never come back.
I always get it worst in summer (sometimes my feet bleed with it) and when I am really stressed.
Green tea also does help, just because it flushes the toxins out of your body.
I know how awful it is, so I can definitely sympathise!
Hugs
Kath
Yup the same here i have psoriasis mainly on my scalp though and behind my ears i use oilatum when i bathe and it seems to work well and also Tea Tree Shampoo

Hi
Yes, i have psoriasis too; palmoplantar, as you. I thought it was no relation between PCOS and psoriasis. It seems doctors don`t have enough information or not have investigations.
Its very hard to have psoriasis; and yes, des-stressant therapies may help. The topical corticosteroids worse my PCOS, after 10 yrs aprox. in my weight, with regular cycles, i have again acne, i have trouble lossing weight and my cycles... well, the same
After topical corticosteroids, i tried natural treatments and it helps so much, more than the topical tratment (acupunture, medicinal teas)
I went to the beach and the sand and sea water helps me too with my lesions
I have psoriasis too. It first appeared on my elbow - I've had it on my hands and most recently on my shin. Olux works wonders for me. My great aunt had a severe case of it, but mine seems to be quite mild.
Hi, my daughter aged 39 has had PCOS for years, which is now giving her all the worst symptoms. Her GP has only recently started giving her some treatment for it in the form of metformin tablets. Unfortunately, she also has severe psoriasis, all over her body, which she has had since she was 18. Nothing seems to work, and believe me, she has tried everything.
Although the metformin tablets started to help with the weight gain and the hair growth, her psoriasis flared up even more and made her life a complete misery. The hospital recommended a further tablet to offset this, but her GP has refused it, saying that it is too expensive. Her doctor says that they are perfectly prepared to give her the original tablet, together with some creams etc., for her psoriasis, but we know from experience that these don't work for her due to the severity of it. Apparently if the doctors offer an alternative, there is nothing she can do. So she is left with a decision between unwanted hairgrowth, excessive weight gain and abscesses or being covered from head to foot in weeping raw patches of psoriasis, that constantly cause her skin to itch and her nerve endings to jump, not to mention the stares of people and awful comments some ignorant people feel obliged to make. So what can she do? Her doctors don't seem to understand what she is going through or even to care and she has tried to change doctors but it is impossible. Does anyone know where she can go to take this further? Or an alternative tablet she could take for PCOS that may not affect her psoriasis? She may be 39 but as her mother, I have to help her.
Ive got it too! Only on my scalp though. I use a shampoo called Nizarol and also a betnovate liquid. It is true that it gets worse if you are stressed. Im TTC (not happening) and am really stressed with that and my scalp is by far the worst it has ever been! x
I've had Psoriasis for several years now, I've always wanted to think it was related to my hormones etc being outta whack...ya'll pretty much just confirmed that! Mines mainly on the back of my head, and growing yearly...I use the Neutrogena T-gel shampoo, it doesn't cure it but I feel like it keeps it under control. The derm. prescribed me the foam and shampoo a few years ago, it was expensive, and I already see so many Dr's...
I too have psoriasis and PCOS ... as stated above, stress is a common trigger for flare ups of this skin disorder ... mine is mild ... small patches on the top of my foot ... but I must share with you something that seems to be working to clear up the plaque psoriasis ... I found this video ... on you tube called psoriasis cure using a product that can be found in the hair care isle at any drug store and decided to give it a try ... it was afforadable and natural ... so far the treatment seems to be working ...the plaques have completely disappeared ... and this is only day 2 of using the treatment. I only have 4 small pink patches that feel like "normal" skin ... this may not be for everyone but I will say this is the first thing I tried to self treat my psoriasis and IT IS WORKING :::: good luck if you decide to give this a try
I have had psoriasis since I was 13 I am now 23. I was recently diganosed with psoc and hyperthyriodism... So Im thinking it all is linked together somehow.

Well, my doctor diagnosed me with Psoriasis, but I honestly don't think thats what I have since none of the internet pictures seem to fit my condition. Nor does my skin itch, burn, or turn red.
I have a condition called Psoriatic Arthritis - it is an inflammatory form of arthritis, which includes skin involvement through psoriasis. You can read about it here. I wanted to share this because up to 30% of people with psoriasis will get PsA.
Secondly, there are theories out there that PCOS is an inflammatory condition, as is PsA, so I wouldn't be surprised if there was a link of some kind. Anti-inflammatory diet is recommended (pretty much low GI!).

Yes, I have psoriasis as well. I think it started with ezcema when I was 5 years old and I developed plaque psoriasis as a teenager. Mine is a pretty mild case. I only get it on my elbows and on my hands. However I work as a nurse and wash my hands ALL DAY LONG with irritating soap and antibacterial foam. My hands get so dry that the patches of psoriasis crack and bleed. Nothing seems to help, but thankfully I don't get it all over the place.
