This can't be good today.
I shave my arms every few days, it's bad enough I have too much hair on the face, and I nicked my wrist on the outside. ouch!
I remember a long time ago, I was putting lotion on my arms and my friend at the time, asks, "why do you do that"? lol I said "b/c it helps all the hair at least stay smooth and down instead of all furry".
She looked at me funny....
Now, I just shave it, just the bottom halves--started shaving my arms a few years ago, don't you have to keep up on it though, I find that the hairs grow in fast, and that looks obvious that I shave or cinged my whole arm. lol
Oh the things PCOS causes us to do for mere vanity...
I shave my arms too! I was always so self conscious of wearing short-sleeved shirts, I felt like people were looking at the dark hair on my arms. It was so embarrassing.
I've been shaving them for about 3 years or so now. I tried bleaching but got tired of that. Then I tried waxing my arms and that was a horrible experience, I did it myself and ended up with bruises all over my arms. I have no idea how I managed that one.
One day in the shower I just grabbed the razor and I've been doing it ever since. I usually shave them every day or every other day and for the most part only do from my elbow down.
I also have nicked my wrist and that hurts!!
Just wanted you to know you weren't alone....as if all of the other excess hair isn't enough to worry about, right?!
You know how they have those rooms you go into where they do the spray tan? I've never done this but have heard of it. Anyway, I was thinking that wouldn't it be great to be able to walk into a booth of some sort and walk out like 5 minutes later with all of our excess hair removed....hair on our face, arms, legs, wherever. Hmmm, I'll have to work on that.
Have a good day!

Girls, I don't know if it's just me, but I've never thought twice about arm hair. On me, or on any other woman. It's always struck me as completely normal and not the least bit unfeminine to have arm hair. I guess we're all different in our perceptions, because while my little bit of belly button hair DOES bother me, the arm hair, which is actually heavier, has never bothered me one little bit. I can't imagine shaving my arms. The stubble, icggh, how do you girls stand the itching?
Don't know if it's any comfort to you at this point, but mine does seem to be getting lighter and sparser with age....looking down at my arms now, I see it's time to switch to the fall moisturizer. I'm looking a little dry!

That is an EXCELLENT idea.

I'm with starmaiden. I never really considered the hair on my arm. And believe me I do have it. I was bothered by my facial hair. so I did laser for that.

I have always had arm hair and told my mother YEARS ago that I wanted to shave them...She advised me not too because I'd be doing it from that point on. I am glad that I didn't. Sometimes it bothers me to have dark arm hair, but other times I don't even think about it. I use to get jealous of women with no arm hair, but now it really doesn't bother me much....But I do like the idea of the booth and spray to remove body hair...That would be great......

I shave my arms and since I've been on met...it takes forever to grow back and is barely noticable anymore. The hair I had was always so dark against my pale skin. It bothered me.

I too shave my arms and have for the last 3-4 yrs. My reasoning for starting it was a bit different, I had bad eczema on my arms, and one day in the shower decided to shave arms to see if it would help, and guess what it DID!!! No more eczema on my arms. I guess the hair was holding dust and making them itch.
I too shave my arms. I don't like how much hair I have on them. I have a photo of me holding one of my daughters when she was a new born and you can see my arm in the photo but not the rest of me and my arm actually looks like a mans arm.
Some people say I'm crazy for doing this because it is going to grow back thicker, but I figure, I take a shower everyday so it will only take me an extra 2 minutes to hit my arms, so i say if you feel more comfortable doing this (as I do) then go ahead and do it
I've been shaving my arms for about 6 years. I had dark "man like" hair on them. I use the Shick Intuition and it takes about 30 seconds.

glad to know I'm not alone.
I've been doing this for a whle, and it never gets "stubbly" or itches, but I wonder if I let the hair grow out if it would be dark. The stubble that does come through is fine, not too thick, and not too dark...
They do get dry though, but I haven't been moisturizing lately much either.
I just like no hair on my arms, I wish I could do it to my face--but I will never go there lol
I shave my arms as well. I do it every other day, it takes less than 2 minutes. When it grows in it's softer than my leg hair, I guess that's a plus? I also take care of hair on the outer edge on the top of my hands, do any other cysters have this?

You are so right, we're all different in our perceptions and what bothers us about ourselves....it's funny because I'm the opposite, my little trail from my belly button down doesn't really bother me. My waxer takes care of it when I go for a brazilian but I don't think I'd do anything about it on my own.
I think my issue with my arm hair stemmed from a guy at work saying something along the lines of "Man! Look at all that hair on your arms!" when I had a short-sleeved shirt on and I think from then on I became very self conscious and stuck to wearing long sleeves. It happened about 6 years ago but has stuck with me.
Fortunately I've never had any problems with any itchiness or stubble on my arms when it grows back, so I'm thankful for that. I did grow it back out last winter and thankfully it was the same as it had been prior to shaving, no darker and not at all more coarse.
I still like my idea of the hair removal booth!
