I do but my hubby is just like...well he's a good doc, of course he'd do that.
Here's the story... Dara has been really sick and yesterday evening her temperature was up to 38.4. I was on my own and panicked...fairly unlike me cos I'm pretty level headed. Anyway I rang the doctor, he'd seen her early in the day. I talked through how she was and he gave me basic advice about bringing down a temperature and gave me the emergency number in case she became unwell in the night. A simple dose of calpol did the trick and although she's still really sick the temperature is down.
What I'm really impressed with is that my lovely doctor rang this morning to see how she was... Am I mad or is this very impressive??? I've never experienced such great 'service' from a doctor.
We had a similar situation with our family doctor a few years back. He was my Grandparents and Parents doctor and when my Grandma was terribley ill, he always used to call into her house on his way home from practice to see how she was. I do not use him as my Doctor as I think he's quite old fashioned in his ways but my Grandparents really like him, maybe because of that, who knows!
Glad the temperature came down, hope she's better soon.

My GP phoned me not so long ago at the end of surgery to discuss some test results that had come back that day. Usually you have to crowbar them out of them and/or wait for an appointment 4 weeks later to see what they are. I was really taken aback

There are some great GPs out there, despite the awful pressures of time, etc they must have.
When I had my last baby, I wanted to stay in hospital for a few days as he was badly jaundiced... but as there were few beds, too many women being admitted, and baby didn't actually need to go under the light thing, we got discharged.
My GP was my old family doctor. He had known us since the early 1970s. He insisted on coming out to our house just to check the baby over every single day for 10 days - didn't send a health visitor or nurse, but came every single day, fitting us somehow into his busy schedule. He came to the house as well, so we wouldn't have to walk down the village to his surgery. Before now I've given birth and been back doing the school run within 4 hours, so he knows I'm not the sort to take to my bed! As this was my 5th child - and 4 of them were jaundiced fairly severely - I wasn't unduly panicky or anything, but he just insisted.
We live in another village now but chose the doctor here that he recommended and they've been just as excellent.
Just goes to show these good doctors are still around!
