I miss the days when I'd get free BCP as "samples." But if you want a different pill, free ones don't help! If you have seen a doctor or nurse practitioner, they should be able to give you the actual prescription for a different pill (do you have one in mind to suggest/ask about?), and you can take that anywhere--they might not be able to FILL it there, though.
Best of luck!

I took Ortho-Tri-Cylcen for several years, and it worked really well to clear up my acne. The day I went off to TTC, I had a nice little chin flare-up. As soon as I have my baby, I'm back on those!
If you ask, and there are no contraindications, I'm sure they'll give you a prescription. If you have insurance, check on their policies--mine requires that I mail in (or have the dr. fax) the prescription, and they'll mail me my pills if the prescription is longer than 3 months worth. Yours may have certain pharmacies you can go to, for example.
Good luck at your appointment!

Ortho Tri Cyclen was doing some nasty things to me. I just told my doctor that I wanted to switch to something low-dose and it was no problem at all--he prescribed me Mircette and it's worked really well for me. I think if you say you want a different one and there's no reason why you can't take it, they should give you that instead. They might not have it in stock there, but they should be able to give you a prescription to be filled somewhere else.
My insurance, being behind the times and/or sexist and/or unaware that BCP's aren't only for pregnancy prevention, doesn't pay for birth control pills. I'm lucky enough to get them at the clinic on campus for a reasonable price, though.
I'm guessing that means you were able to switch pills? Good luck with these! I hope they keep working for you.
Mircette is kinda odd...it's three weeks of the same low dose of hormone, then instead of having a week of no hormones you have two days where you get no hormones and then five days where you get a very small amount (lower than usual). It's working wonderfully for me. I think the Ortho Tri really made my hormones unstable, I was having awful depression and mood swings. Hopefully since the Ortho Cyclen is just one steady dose, it won't do that.
