Question Does clomid make everyone go crazy???

I have heard lots of stories from friends of mine who have taken clomid about how much havoc it causes with your emotions.... As a rule of thumb does everyone react this way or are there some people who take clomid and stay sane!

I really dread the idea of being a raving ***** on wheels!

I know when I was taking Clomid I was prone to intense fits of rage. They would come out of nowhere, caused by the most stupid and simple of things.
I remember one time just screaming at my husband and all the time thinking "what are you doing?"
I'd go from rages to uncontrolable crying in the blink of an eye, and sometimes blissful happiness.
It took a long time before I figured it was the clomid, I thought I was going crazy.
I felt like a time bomb, always waiting to go off and not knowing what would happen when I did.
I know this doesn't answer your question but I thought I would tell you my experience with it.

During the three cycles I've been on Clomid, I haven't been anything other than perhaps a bit more "touchy" around O. I've not had any outbursts or irritability other than just being testy to DH in the evenings once or twice. I think it effects everyone differently. I was much more moddy, grouchy and irritable on Provera than I was with Clomid.

YES!!!!!! I have taken Prometrium before but it's nothing like the clomid. I was feeling the side effects on day 2 taking it. The hot flashes instantly give me an anxiety feeling. The other night I could not get my robe off fast enough. I have been sleeping with the fan 10 inches from my body. I have nausea and I flipped out the other day because my DH did not call me during the day. I hope I get prego this cycle, I don't want to go through this again but I have to. I am in the PCOS Study at Baylor in Houston. Their program has given me structure and I want to be able to help other women through their research.
If you want it bad enough, go through it.... that's what I remind myself each hot flash!!!!

LOL I hate to say it, but I too have been NUTS when I was on clomid! One minute I am completely fine, laughing and having a good time, and the next minute, I am a complete basket case, or I am pissed off about something really stupid! I hope if and when you take it, you dont deal with all the stupid s/e of it!!

This month was the first time for me taking clomid. During the 5 days I took it, I only had some very mild side effects on the 1st day. But, after I finished taking my last pill, I had very bad mood swings. I was very sensitive, just the smallest thing would make me mad or hurt my feelings. I would just sit and cry for no reason. This really sucked because, during the time I was ovulating, I was so moody, DH and I only BD 1 time. Now how is that helping me get pregnant? All I can say is, do your best to keep those mood swings under control, so what happened to me doesn't happen to you.

Thanks for all of your responses! It is good to hear everyone's different experiences. A friend of mine was fine for a couple of cycles and then crazy for some of the other ones... it really does just seem to depend!

Clomid made my skin very, very sensitive. I could not bear to be touched especially when I was ovulating. ..would scream every time your truly came near me. We did manage two kids and after that neither of us wanted to go through the process again.

I call clomid "nasty in a pill". I had such bad mood swings when I was on it that my normally very clingy dogs wouldn't come near me until I had calmed down which was usually about a week after taking the last pill. I hope you don't have the same s/e's I had on it .

I've had one cycle of clomid and no side affects whatsoever. I fully expected mood swings, irritability, etc , but nothing ever materialized. I went through the five days as if I had no strange substances floating around working their magic! Good luck.

This was my first cycle with clomid and I was a little worried about the mood swings, but it wasn't bad at all. I was only slightly moodier than normal and my DH said that he didn't notice a change at all (he was worried, too)!

The one side effect that I did have (and I had never heard of this before) was vivid dreams! I almost never remember my dreams, but the nights I took clomid were full of dreams, and I mean they were so real I would wake up and wonder if they really happened! It was so bizarre!
