My Mood: Points: 1,473.61 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,473.61 | The only comment I ever had was a female doc (before I went to an actual ob/gyn) for a pap (she was a gp) and asked if the bumps were from shaving. And when I told her yes she asked what I thought of going bare. She told me some of her friends did it and said they liked it but she wanted an opinion from someone who wasn't a friend. |

My Mood: Points: 2,040.74 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 2,040.74 | I have been shaving and/or waxing for quite some time, and I have NEVER had a doctor ask me as to why. As a matter of fact, being I am so close to the end of my pregnancy, I can't shave (cause I can't see, LOL.) and I have had dh take care of it because it is embarrassing to me to have stubble/hair. Best of luck....but I can't imagine why they would ask, unless there is an issue.

My Mood: Points: 2,147.13 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 2,147.13 | I always shave all the way, especially before going to the gyno. I've never been asked about it. I'd give my doc a hard time if he couldn't tell razor bumps from diseases. My last pap was on Halloween and I wrote "Boo!" on my inner thigh and told him next year I'll figure out a costume. It helps to have a sense of humor about the whole affair! =)

I wouldn't be comfortable going to a male gyno anyway. |

My Mood: Points: 5,578.14 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 5,578.14 | I've gone to quite a few gynos and have gone completely shaved, partially shaved, and just a regular, um, bush and nobody has ever said anything. It's just hair, it doesn't have anything to do with what is inside of your vagina, which is typically what they are looking at anyways!! Don't be nervous, just show up how you feel comfortable and you'll be fine!

I don't even know if I need one.. my last one was in 3/07, and i'm going to him to discuss going on a different BCP.. I didn't know if a pelvic was standard procedure after several months on BCP or whatever, which is why I was asking about bumps. But will he even do a pelvic/pap if i'm bleeding?

He will still do it...I can't tell you how many times that same thing has happened to me...I've had internals and everything with AF.

My Mood: Points: 5,578.14 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 5,578.14 | About having a pap on AF... it actually all depends on your Dr and what you are going for. If they are doing any testing... usually they won't do it on AF because it can interfere with the testing. But if they are just going in for a general look around then they might do it. I've been asked to reschedule many times because an unexpected AF came. I'd call first so you don't waste your time just in case.

I just didn't know if he might want to throw in a pap smear/pelvic exam just for kicks. Last time I was there, he got me nekkid to look at some varicose veins I have down there, and he said "everything looks good" and that's all.. but I didn't know if he would want to do the whole work up or if he would just give me the new scrip for the BCP...

They can do tests during AF...which can skew the results...maybe...just let them know

My OB-GYN has never said anything about my bareness at all. I think most doctors are professionals and realize not to ask. |
