I have read about how some women experience hormone balance and PCOS symptom improvement after pregnancy and childbirth. How many of you have experienced,or have not experienced signifgant improvement in symptoms once you have given birth?
Hi, while I was pregnant, I felt more normal than I have in ages, hardly any mood swings, no insulin resistance, hardly any hair growth, etc. Afterwards though, back to the drawing board. I actually feel worse, but it could be because I have postpartum depression. But don't despair, everybody is different. Your case might end up different than mine.

I definitely got worse after DD was born as far as weight gain and facial hair, as well as the amount of AF. But prior to her, I was extremely irregular, didn't ovulate more than twice a year(we got lucky when we conceived her), mood swings, and had a lot of pain with AF.

Pregnancy was wonderful for me. For the first time in my life my body acted normal. I loved being pg. I had very minimal weight gain and no signs of PCOS. In fact I left the hospital weighing less than preconception. This continued throughout the first year after delivery, while I was breastfeeding. However the symptoms slowly crept back in. It started with a diminished milk supply. I had to start adding 'food' to both of my children's diets by 3 mos. I was always told by my OB/GYN that if I could get pg just one time, my body would straighten itself out. So I was ecstatic during my pg's since my body now seemed "normal". Not to be so negative about the return of my PCOS symptoms, I did see an improvement with my fertility. I had to use fertility drugs with my first and actually went to my one year check-up pg with my "oops" baby. (Which seems to be a common factor in women treated with fertility drugs). After delivering and nursing both my children, I returned to birth control pills and my symptoms got worse. I have horrible side effects on the pill that I decided to stop. I am currently on my 2nd month of Met and thankfully I have had 2 periods, 33 days apart, which is an absolute MIRACLE for me. I am also down 13 pounds.
During and after pregnancy, I noticed that my hair loss is now at normal levels, and my skin is clearer.
But my metabolism slowed down, and I went on Met.

Well, for me it's difficult to say. I was never treated for PCOS until last year and I'm still not being treated properly.
With my first two kids, the symptoms got worse after pregnancy. With this baby...I'm not sure yet because I'm nursing. I think that the emotional stuff and the brain fog got worse after this baby.

My pcos symtoms showed up after my 2nd pregnancy. I never really had problems with my periods or ovulation until the hormonal shift of that pregnancy. In retrospect, I did have moderately oily skin and insulin resistance prior to being pregnant at all - so maybe my body just sort of gave up.
while preggers I was normal. After birth, I was normal as could be for while! THen they came back full force! Same if not worse then before.

PCOS got worse, but my allergies, (hay fever) hardly bug me at all. from early childhood until my dd was born I would sneeze year round, real bad when pollen and mold spores were high, but now not so much! I no longer buy kleenex at Sam's!

I have had my period since I gave birth. It's been almost a year. That's the only improvement I've seen. DH and I have done nothing to prevent pregnancy but are not trying. We have not gotten pregnant by "accident" or anything so I wonder if we could. Facial hair, acne, etc. seems the same as before if not worse.
The most noticable thing that happened during pregnancy is that my hair grew much more! I wasn't as thin on top, but this changed a year after and the hair started to really fall out. All other symptoms have been more or less the same.... Although, one horrible thing. I have developed a sweet tooth since being pregnant. This has really caused problems... I want sweets much of the time now... very annoying. My period does come more regularly, but not as regular as the first four months leading to my pregnancy. I had the 28 cycle for the first time in my life just before getting pregnant. Now they come about every 38 days or? Before all of this I had few periods if ever...so I don't know.

I had AWESOME hair while PG. I did fight hypoglycemia majorly while PG though.
The PCOS symptoms definitely became much more pronounced AFTER birth though. My hair is thinner now than ever. My cycles are all out of whack. I have more facial hair.
