I am not technically insulin resistant. I have had a lot of tests to check:
fasting glucose, glucose tolerance test, insulin, C-Peptide, and A1C. All normal.
I may have a sensitivity to insulin which caused my Testosterone levels to rise. My PCOS symptoms are related to elevated Testosterone. (Hair loss, no periods, weight gain, acne)
I didn't ovulate until I started Metformin. (4+ years ago) Metformin immediately brought my T levels down. I had a period within the first few weeks, I was able to lose weight and I just felt better.
Metformin didn't help with the hair loss. I take an anti androgen for that-Flutamide. (Miracle medicine for me)
Please always keep copies of your labs and watch for changes in numbers and increase in your symptoms. HTH
