Question Does Metformin affect BBT (temperature)?

Hi all! I'm new to this site and just recently diagnosed with PCOS. I'm not sure it makes much difference, but I have the "thin" version of PCOS, and due to a family history of PCOS and diabetes, my RE also recommended the South Beach Diet for me. For the last few days, all my signs (CM, o-pains, etc) have been pointing to me ovulating in the next couple days.

Last night I took my first dose of Metformin (prescribed by my RE since we're TTC). When I took my temp this morning, it spiked above my CL of 97.57 to 97.99!! Could this temp spike really be because I ovulated, or does the Metformin cause your temps to be higher than normal? I'm on CD28 today, and I usually ovulate betwen CD20 and CD25.

Any insight into Metformin would be greatly appreciated. TIA!!

Anyone have any experience with this? Well I'm guessing since my temp has stayed up and not spiked again that I really am on 8DPO and that it didn't affect my temperature. Please let me know if you have a different experience. Thanks!

With Metformin I noticed it lowers my temps, and keeps them more steady. I notice a clear temp shift if I Ov with ovulation stimulation drugs.

So, maybe it is Ov.
Only one way to find out, you'll either get a visit from AF or a BFP... or ask your doc to test your progesterone to find out if you have Ov'ed for sure.

Best wishes.

Well I'm now 16DPO and haven't started AF yet. If it doesn't show soon, I plan on testing Friday or Saturday. My temp has definitely stayed up above the CL so I'm pretty sure it was O. Only a couple more days to know for sure. Thanks!

If there's still someone out there wondering about it, it doesn't look like it affected it. I got a BFP at home on 17DPO and a confirmed beta on 20DPO. Looks like I'm about 5 weeks already!

I just started taking Medroxy Progesterone & Metformin. I've also noticed a spike in my Basal Temp. I'm really confused! I've only been taking it for 4 days now and each day my temp increases. Before my temp was 96.6 now it's been 97.0, 96.9, 97.3, 97.5. I've always had a low basal temp. Any thoughts would be helpful! Thanks!!
