Default Does PCOS give you the chills??

I'm cold alot of the time. In bed, I heat up sometimes but I spend the day in the house wearing a hoody and because no one else in the house feels it, its becoming a family joke. I'm always way colder than everyone else no matter how much activity I do. Typically its just my arms, but I tend to get the shivers now and again too. Even after a day in the hot Georgia sun, it takes less than an hour for my body temprature to drop again and for me to be back in the house with my hoody on. I wouldn't usually find it strange but everyone in my family has commented on it, and I'm wondering if it has any relation to my PCOS.
Any info would be much appreciated!!

xx

I dont know if this is PCOS related but, yes I am feeling very much cold these days and my family teases me about it. At night I feel so cold that I wear socks so that I can sleep peacefully. Weird I know :p

Ha! Interesting... I also am always colder than most people. I keep a sweater in the trunk of my car and ALWAYS take a sweater to the grocery store, to the movie theater, to restaurants, and keep an extra one at work. But not sure I could say it is PCOS.

I feel cold most of the time, too. I wear fleeces, hoodies, layers of socks and shirts indoors. My endo seems to think it is related to my thyroid. Like all the PCOS tests, my thyroid labs always come back normal, even though I have some symptoms. However, I have developed a small goiter recently, so it looks like there is definately something going on there. The dr. took some more bloodwork this week, to eliminate other causes. I hoping I can get on thyroid meds soon.

I guess I'm the oddball. I am always hot. It was 62 degrees in my house this morning and I loved it. The poor kids were freezing, and I was in heaven! I slept awesome last night too!

I second what Mistyr's doc says, I think it might be a thyroid issue.

I'm not sure about it being a Metformin side effect, but being cold when others around you are not is one sign of hypothyroidism. Another posibility could be anemia. Have you been checked for either? Best wishes.

My thyroid levels are fine. About 2 years ago a doctor thought I might be anemic but those tests also showed I was within normal range... though I don't believe in these ranges being normal anymore. Maybe I should check that out. But threeblessings made me think about how two years ago I had several months where I had hot flashes. Since I'm always cold and always layering I just dismissed them as actually having too many layers on, but you know... that's when I started to gain weight, lose hair on my head, and the hirsutism began to get worse.

OH yeah, I'm always cold as well. My husband makes fun of me but I tell him that he can worry about his own temperature while I worry about mine. I always have to have a sweater or something at the office, generally in the grocery store etc. I hardly ever wear shorts out in the summer unless it's really hot.

My feet and hands are almost always cold, and it usually takes me a long time to get warm when I get in bed. Then I wake up in the middle of the night sweating to death because I'm so covered up... so I uncover and get chilled till I dry out because I was all sweaty

My thyroid has been checked before, nothing 'unusual.' I think my grandmother is the same way.

hmmmm....I've always been cold natured, but I don't know if that can be attributed to PCOS. I thought fat was supposed to make you warmer!

Misty~ if you have a goiter and your labs are coming back normal, please ask for more test, I was diagnosed in July with thyroid cancer and my labs all came back normal, thank God I had a good Dr, because he knew that the lump in my throat was something to keep testing. they found my cancer by doing a fine needle aspiration ( needle biopsy). I too am always cold now that I don't have a thyroid, it is quite strange because I was always hot before.

Kat, I did just that last week. I've started seeing a RE, because I was getting nowhere with my regular doc. She said that the goiter was all in my head! Well, it's not huge yet, but it's definately noticable to the touch, and to the eye when I swallow. Anyhow, he is redoing all the tests I have taken with her previously plus a few more, and I'm hopeful that he will see something different.
