Angry Does Provera cause a painful cycle

Hello cysters!!!
I have not had a cycle since Oct/03. My doctor gave me Provera to start and as of 2 days ago Aunt Flo has returned. I am thrilled that it worked and I have never been so excited to be on my cycle. However, I am in excrutiating pain. I had to call my doctor and get Bextra (anit-inflammatory) because the regular advil, pamprin, etc. was not touching the pain. Is this normal to be in this much pain? I have to stay off my feet and my back is killing me!!!! I am not trying to sound like a hypocondriac but I just wondered if any of you have experienced this and have any suggestions to what to do. Well thanks again in advance for your responses and have a great day!!!!!

I take Provera as well in order for AF to make an appearance. I've only been taking it since Dec 03, but haven't had any of the problems that you are having. I take 10mg/day for 5 days, then AF generally comes for a visit 2-3 days later. I haven't experienced any cramping or pain. Prior to being put on Provera, I hadn't had a period for close to 7 years. Maybe you need to talk to your Dr about what you're experiencing. They might need to adjust your dose.

The first time that I took provera I too had really bad cramps. After that they got better and after a few years, they got down to nothing.

Now that I have lost weight, I have af on my own. This last time I had really bad cramps. What I do is, take a bath towel and put it in the dryer on high until the towel gets good and hot, then I fold it and put it over the cramps. That help's a little.

GOOD LUCK

I have taken Povera nd Prometrium a number of times to bring af. I have found the first periods with them to be much more painful. In fact, the last time I had to use it I stayed home from work for two days. Good luck

I am on my second month of Prover. The first month I was in much discomfort and pain. This month I still have the pain, but not nearly as bad as last month. I'm hoping that it dimishes each month as times goes on.

Lilacmans-I have taken Provera for ten days the past two months to induce AF. The only side effect that I personally had was extreme fatigue. By the time I worked all day and made dinner, I was ready to fall asleep on the couch by 7:30p each evening. I also would get "hot flashes" at times, normally in the morning, after I had taken my pill for the day. AF usually shows up 2-3 days after the last pill, but I think it can be as long as 2 weeks from what I've read on the boards.
