Default Does prozac make u itch?

Hi, I just started taking prozac less than a week ago, the dr has me taking 10mg for a week then up to 20mg. Since yesterday, day 5, I have been itching from the waist down, my backside and all down my legs. It is so weird. Could it be from the medication? I don't remember reading that as one of the side effects. Anyone know?

I got alot of funny little bumps on my arms while I was taking prozac- but thought nothing of it because at the time I was in a lifeguarding class and my skin is very sensitive to chlorine. Doctor prescibed me hydrocortizone. Cleared right up. I still use the hc alot for my itchy skin, and it works great for razor burn too.

I have had no problems with Prozac. It sounds as though you may be having a slight alergic reaction. Try taking a benadryl and see if the itchiness goes away. If it continues I would call the dr or pharmacist to see if this could be a side effect.

Hi Christel - Does the itching feel like it's on the outside of your skin or is it a weird feeling like it's coming from the inside- like you're itching from the inside out?

Thanks everyone for the replies. The itching was from the inside (no rash or hives). I called my dr and he switched me to generic celexa (citalopram), which I am very happy with. I am pretty sure it was the prozac because once I stopped taking it the itching slowly went away (as if it was tapering out of my body). So strange but there wasn't any other explanation. Anyhow I'm all better....thanks ladies!
