Default Does this sound like endo?

So, I had my ultrasound yesterday. From what I saw on the screen and the images I googled in advance (plus my symptoms and the hints the tech dropped) I'm sure that they are going to tell me PCOS. I'm not as relieved to have a diagnosis as I thought I would be.

But, the tech asked me twice about how bad my periods were. Then he asked about ovulation pains. (Um, I don't ovulate, so I couldn't answer that one.) I thought that was a little unusual, I've only heard of painful periods associated with endo. And mine aren't that bad, I don't think, especially considering I only have them every 90+ days...(yeah, they hurt, but nothing a low dose of tylenol won't fix) but I'm not sure why else he would have asked. Every once in awhile I'll get stabbing pains in my uterus it feels like, but not that often, I always thought that was normal or cramps or whatever. (And the stabbing pains weren't ovulation pains, unfortunately.)

Am I making something of nothing or does it sound like he suspected endo? (I know a lap is the only way to officially diagnose endo.)

He said he would talk to the doctor and then come talk to me, but he ended up just saying "your doctor will call you." And it didn't look like from his facial expression that the doctor will have good news.

I won't hear from them probably until Tuesday at the soonest, and I can't stop thinking about this. I went in pretty much already knowing that I have PCOS, so I was okay with that, but now I'm worried that they suspect endo too and that terrifies me because it is not something I feel at all prepared to deal with. I know I shouldn't go borrowing trouble before they even tell me, but I feel like I need to prepare myself for the worst and hope it's nothing.

Thanks for your opinions.

ETA: And I've been having cramps and stabbing pains off and on since my ultrasound. Is that normal? It sucks.

Did you have a transvaginal ultrasound? (I'm assuming yes...). I had terrible pain w/ transvaginal ultrasounds and sex w/ endometriosis.

I also had very painful ovulation (multiple times a month and both ovaries at once!) and periods. The pain for me felt as if I was being impaled. I would be in pain for days during my periods and the only relief I would get would be from hot baths, heating pads, lots of ibuprofen or pain killers. For me I was a non stop bleeder so the pain took over my life.

As for you, it doesn't sound like if you have Endo that it's worth doing anything drastic right now (like surgery). However, it depends on you and your doctor's decision. Are you on any birth control or anything? Many women find relief from endo with birth control.

There is no cure for Endo, so you really treat the symptoms as they come. There are other reasons for pelvic pain, so make sure your dr checks you out really well.

Keep us posted

Oh yea, by the way - I never listen to techs. And, I bet its better news if the doctor didn't want to come in and scope around himself I've found when they do that - get worried.

Thank you so much Olivia!

Yes, I had an abdominal and transvaginal ultrasound. I do have pain with sex sometimes and I was sore the day of and the day after the ultrasound which isn't really supposed to be normal but I definitely don't think it's bad enough for surgery or anything.

The "good" news is that it IS PCOS. (No kidding, I've been telling them that for three years. I finally had to beg for this ultrasound because they kept dismissing me since my bloodwork-done at the wrong time-was normal. But I have all of the symptoms plus my mom was diagnosed with pcos.)

They didn't mention endo at all, so I'm assuming I'm in the clear from that. I had been on BCP for five years and this is my first year off as of May (we are TTC.)

The relief I was hoping for the day of the ultrasound has come now that I don't have endo to worry about, or at least for now.
