Yeah, some of it could be blood glucose related, but it does sound like something else is going on there.
The BEST way to tell if your blood glucose (sugar) is off is to either buy or borrow a glucose meter. You can buy one for about thirty bucks at walmart, maybe cheaper. They're a good thing to have around if you have insulin resistance, which most of us do. I recommend getting the cheapest meter possible if you look at buying one....the walmart brand one is just fine.
If you can borrow one for a couple of days that's great, too.
For a day or two test your blood glucose:
When you first climb out of bed before eating anything (morning fasting)
Two hours after the time you started eating your breakfast
Right before eating lunch
Two hours after the time you started lunch
Right before dinner
Two hours after starting dinner
Right before bed
And any time you feel especially like crap
Keep track of these numbers somewhere and then after two days of taking them bring them to your next docs visit. Call your doctor right away if you have any reading at any time over 200.
This is a good thing to do because then you can rule out diabetes or pre-diabetes and focus on finding what the real issues are. It definately sounds like a yeast problem, so that's where you're probably going to find your answers....but having high glucose levels FEEDS the yeast, so ruling that out right away is very useful.
I did see a homeopath for 8 months doing a strict diet and at the end she said it should be gone!! But when I resumed eating gradaly it came back and my bloating wasnt as bad but never went away completley. She said Imst have an underlying problem which is causing the yeast????
My diet was:
No sugar, no fruit, no fermented foods, no processed food, no caffine..
Basically my diet was
Rice porrige for breakfast (white rice and millet)
Rice cakes and tuna / salmon and salad at lunch
chicken or fish with veg in the evenings
Do you think I needed to come off the pill?
Also rice cakes are quite high gi so do yo think i sholdnt of had them or should I cut them out all together??
I use herbal suppliments and believe there is a lot of good in homeopathic medicine....but I think it needs to work WITH regular medicine, not in replacement of it. Is your homeopath also an MD?
I strongly suggest calling your doctor and asking for an Oral Glucose Tolerance Test to check for high blood glucose and then going from there. High blood glucose feeds yeast.
Doing a strict diet for 8 months means that while you were on the diet you were controlling your symptoms (symptoms of whatever is going on in your body) -- but once you went off the diet you stopped masking the symptoms. Treating symptoms is all well and good when you know what the problem is....but you need to find out what's causing it all.
I hope you find the answers quickly. It's always nice when things get figured out and you don't have to wonder anymore!!
Yes youve hit the nail on the head..I need to know whats going on and why..
When i started the diet I ended up with no support as family said you must be celiac just do the diet but ive done the test so many times andd it says I am not..
Then I started having problems with my skin and was toldd I need to eat normal I am malnourished..got ill..
Then coz I was eating normal was very ill and down and stress at home I ended up with right facial drop, neck spasum, arm weakness and leg on right side..I think ive had a mini stroke but coz its gone on so long I now have no support and hospital said bells pulsy but havent done any test to rule out stroke..since the drop I feel different. I used to be a fitness trainer so I have tried to get the muscles working ..I tried the other day with arm excersises and my right arm (all weakness right side) is killing me from excersise but not my left. Even the physio isnt sure its bells pulsy and high insulin can result in a stroke cant it???
I had fasting blood sugar test last week will that be enough to tell them if it is ? Is it the same as oral glucose test? I made sure I ate carbs and stuff a few days before as one doctor said if you keep doing the diet it may mask whats happening..
For the test you took, did they have you fast and then come in, drink some stuff and then take blood every so often?
High blood glucose can cause a huge variety of problems....I haven't heard of it causing a stroke, but just because I haven't heard it doesn't mean anything.
I strongly suggest getting a notebook and writing down how much of what you eat and drink, at what times, also writing down any excercise you get, what meds you take and when, and what symptoms you experience and when. This will really, really help find patterns that might otherwise elude you for weeks as you try to nail this thing down.
It sounds like there is something else other than IR going on. I'm not saying you don't have IR at all, you might but i think some of your symptoms are caused by something else. I hope you get answers soon

New doctors said at the last minute after waiting 3 weeks they cant take on patients who already have a doctor..and they have lost my blood tests results..
Ive had to start again and change docs and they dont know whats happened to my results either??
I feel like giving up..I ate all those carbs for the test dont wan to do it again...xx
You don't have to wait. You can go to walmart or any pharmacy and buy their store brand of glucose meter and test your own blood sugar. Test at the right times after meals for a few days and you'll see right there if your blood glucose is going too high.
You don't need a doctor to do that....you do, though, need about $60 ($30 for the meter and $30 for 50 strips)
I am sorry to hear about your troubles. I recognize your symptoms as my own. Instead of thrush, though, I get itchy bubbles on my fingers if I eat too much sugar. I have days when I am so exhausted I can hardly do anything.... and I get horrible hangovers if I haven't eaten any sugar for a while and then go have a dessert when I eat out with friends.
I was off sugar and simple carbohydrates for over a year and I had great relief from my symptoms. If you are intersted in the science of what your body's chemistry is doing, please read "Potatoes Not Prozac" by Desmaisons. It is phemomenal and you will really gain a lot of insight as to why you are responding as you do to sugar and "white" foods.
What I found most intruiguing about her book is that she shows how for some people, not all, that eating sugar and simple carbohydrates behaves the same way in our bodies as for someone who is addicted to heroin. I don't know if you call that insulin resistance, or prediabetes, or whatever you want to call it, but it is amazing.
I have also read a lot about the Atkins diet/way of life and his theory is parallel to Desmaisons. The challenge to me is to change my way of eating although it is counter to what we are taught.
I hope you get some relief. And, if a diet was working for you, and you had symptom relief, I would go back to eating that way, even if you don't understand why it is you have to eat this way in order to feel good. I plan to take my own advice, too.
Be well!

Is there a range that I should try to keep my blood sugar in. I don't have problems with it being to high, but too low. After eating it's typically in the 80's and 90's. Is that too low?
