I enjoy sugar-free raspberry iced tea rather than just plain water. Although, it's best that you take your medications with water or milk. I watched a tv segment on the effects of fruit juice (grapefruit, apple, orange, etc) limiting or negating the effectiveness of medication (in general).
As far as sugar goes, I've basically given up any refined sugar like that in those very tempting cookies, cupcakes, cakes, etc... Since doing all of that I've lost about 34 lbs pre-Met
