Default Does your md have flutamide problems?

I'm going to the doctor next week to get all my levels checked, and I'm going to ask him about Flutamide. What have your experiences been when asking your doctors about this? Have any of them said no? What are their concerns? Also, how high of a dosage are your doctors suggesting you get to?

I asked my doc and she said no. She felt that the risks were to high. She did however give me Spiro.

hi! I am supposed to work my way up to 500 mg per say, i refuse to take more than 250 mg per day b/c i don't think i need it AND I don't want to increase the side effects (neasea, dizzy, hot flashes) but so far i am having good results. The main thing is my skin is clear now, better than even accutane did for me! I am lovin it! Before, my skin was like an oil slick by mid morning, now i go all day oil free!

Well, ladies, I'm going in this afternoon to get my bloodwork done and see if he'll let me try Flutamide!

If you get a chance, check out my blog below. I'm sort of keeping an online journal of this process for some friends and family that don't understand what PCOS is.

Default My Endocrinolgist won't RX Flutamide

I talked to my Doctor. She said that she won't prescribe Flutamide for me. She has had a patient experience liver failure.
She said that I could get a second opinion. The only other Endocrinolgist at the hospital, doesn't RX it for patients either. So, I have to travel a bit.
I really trust my current doctor. She says that we are doing all we can, with the Metformin, Spironolactone, diet and exercise (for about three years now). I continue to lose hair (lots), my testosterone levels are slowly creeping up, 19 to 35 to 56.
I will do more research and follow through with my second opinion. I am so tired of dealing with all this.

This turned out to be a joke. My doctor is in a clinic with 3 other doctors, but he is the only doctor I see, unless I'm really sick and just want to get in quickly. He has been the doctor managing my PCOS for over 7 years, and he was the first doctor I found back then, other than my gynecologist that was familiar with Glucophage for PCOS. Somehow, they scheduled my appointment with a new doctor in the clinic that I saw once this winter for a sinus infection. He irritated me then, but I just needed an antibiotic, so I didn't worry about it. This is a problem, though. I don't like this guy - he's smug and arrogant, and actually said that he's sure my doctor doesn't know any more about PCOS treatment than he does! And, "you know, Danielle, this is a cancer drug - it's serious stuff." I know!! I've done research on this, moron, and I wanted to talk to MY doctor about it, because he'll actually have a conversation with me about it. This doctor treated me like I'm the stupid patient, he's the brilliant doctor, and silly me for thinking my doctor would tell me anything else. If I need to see an endo, I'll do it, but I want to hear that from my doctor's mouth, not some punk right out of med school. As soon as their office opens this morning, I'm going to ask for a free appt with my doctor, since they gave me the wrong doctor. AND, I'm going to ask that they mark my file so I will NEVER see Dr. Aune again!!
