Default Does your skin ever recover fully after acne?

Not that I'm there yet, I'm still looking for a cure for acne. But I was wondering if it is at all possible to get rid of enlarged pores and acne scars PERMANENTLY. Can it be done to go from a bad looking skin to a peachy 'normal' skin?
I've been inquiring about (micro)dermabrasion, chemical peeling and laser treatment. Any thoughts or experiences?

Thanks in advance

Love,

Charlotte

I had bad acne from 12 years old until I was about 19- when I got put on Ortho Tri-Cyclen. I'm 22 now and I get compliments on my complection, which I still think looks bad. I don't have acne, but I have big pores and what i call "rosie scars" where the scars make a rosie flush to my face where I can't really tell they are scars. Does that make any sense?

I guess what I'm trying to say is, I think your skin will look great one day!

I think the best thing to do is to stay with a good dr. There are many things one can do to improve skin and I do them but I also have avoided many a problem too by getting injections and by taking antibiotics. Will I ever be 100% ? No probably not but I look ok!

OH, what i was referring to was microdermabrasion and I did have a few scar revisions last fall. Now i am using retin a micro and my derm says that over time this drug does improve scarring. I still have some scars but I am very fair skinned and they are not dramatic looking. The surgery helped very much with the scars that I thought were the worst. The microdermabrasion is not a miracle cure either but there is an improvement. That is what I was referring to and none of it would have been possible if I had not stayed in touch with drs. ( There was about 5-6 years that I didn't and i regret it cause i had some scarring during that time).

I'm seriously thinking about microdermabrasion as well. i'm still 'shopping' around at this moment, but different ppl say different things. Of course they all think I should go for their method. For example: the woman from the beauty parlor says chemical peelings and microdermabrasion gives good results at first but makes it more sensitive and you get couperose (red spots from veins that 'explode') and stuff afterwards. Of course she claims I have to use her treatment, some sort of cream to clean the pores first and then fill them with some cream. I think first I will try to find a good treatment and after I'm sure break outs are a thing of the past (more or less), I'll contact a good dermatologist for treatment to get rid of scars and enlarged pores. I got quite a good tax refund this year, so I'm up for it!!

I went to a plastic surgeon that my derm recommended. The RN there is the one who does the microderm. It was called Power Peel. My new derm told me that skin peels will do about the same. I never did peels because Im highly sensitive and didn't want the chemicals. The microderm never once caused me any unusual irritation, just pink skin overnight that was easily covered by makeup. You can research on the internet too and that will give you more information.

I had acne from 11 until 21. My skin is now so much better and it's been 6 months since my last breakout and my skin has healed alot. I still have some red patches where the worst areas were but they are fading and i'm hoping that they will go altogether some day. So yes - i would say that it is possible to get good skin back after having acne in some cases.
