Doing IUI for the first time tomorrow; got some questions
Small update:
Today is Day 7 since the last transfer (did IUI on 21st and 22nd) and I'm a bit gassy/bloated and my boobs are a bit sore, but my head is thinking PMS symptoms, not PG symptoms. Maybe this is my mind's way of trying to protect me from the disappointment if it's a BFN? Dunno. The waiting (for November 3rd's PG blood test) is KILLING me! I almost bought a PG test yesterday to see if my symptoms would translate to an early answer on the stick...silly, I know. One day at a time is what I keep telling myself, but it's really, really difficult to stay focused on work when all I'm thinking about is November 3rd.
Thanks for listening!
Heya,
We are doing IUI for the first time tomorrow and again on Wednesday. I got my shot of HGT (?) to make me ovulate, so I'm feeling pretty positive and hopeful.
Would love to hear about the actual procedure; what is it like? Painful? Duration? My Doc answers my questions but isn't specific enough for me.
Would also love to read a success story or two of anyone who got a BFP doing IUI.
And pixie dust is always appreciated!
Many thanks cysters!

That is so exciting!!! I conceived all three of my children from IUIs. Three children: DS, age five and twin DDs, age four. I was really lucky and only had to do one cycle of injectables and IUI for each pregnancy.
It has been almost way over four years since I had the last one, but I don't remember it being painful at all. Maybe just slightly uncomfortable as they threaded the little tube through my cervix. I think I remember a crampy feeling after it was injected, plus I was crampy from all of the meds.
Be sure to lie there on the table for 15-20 minutes after the procedure. I think I asked if I could stay even longer than that, because I really wanted it to work.
Thanks, Moonshoot! I will definitely lie on the table for awhile...I REALLY want this to work! There are apparently a couple of follicles that are of a good size, so I'm actually hoping for twins...get it all over and done with in one shot, so to speak! Your story has inspired me!
Thanks again!

That's pretty much exactly how it was for me, too. DD is about 6 and a half months old. She was conceived on the first IUI. It wasn't painful for me at all. DH and I did DTD that night, too, just to add some reinforcements to the mix. The procedure itself only took maybe 5 minutes, but like the PP said, be sure to lie on the table for a while after it's done (I think I was there for about 20 minutes). Good luck today and baby dust to you!!!

Hey girls! I'm writing this from the waiting room right now. DH just left his boys in the lab and now I wait a couple of hours while they prep the boys for transfer. Yesterday went well; a little bit of cramping. I was pg 11 years ago with my first husband, but it didn't turn into a child, so I definitely know how my body feels when pg...I'm paying close attention!
Today we do the second IUI and then wait with our fingers and legs crossed! I think we'l have relations tonight to add extra 'weight' to the mix too (great suggestion!).
Just had my ultrasound and I was fishing for info and said, "I know you can't really tell me anything, so I won't ask any questions" and she said, "It looks great. I have no concerns", so I'm smiling!
Thanks for all the positive vibes, girls!

This is great to here. I was wondering the same thing about IUI. We go to our Re tomorrow to learn what are plan of action is. He had mentioned IUI before. Tomorrow we learn the results from our test and what he feels would be the best method for us. I am so nervous but glad to here IUI is not a horrid process.
GOOD LUCK and baby dust to you!

I had an IUI last Thursday 10/16 at 36 hours after my HCG trigger shot. Today, 6 days after the IUI, I am having bloating and crampiness. It is too early to be AF, so I am praying it is implantation. Did any of you who got pregnant from an IUI experience this?
OvertheMoon - who was your RE in Houston? Mine is Dr. Dunn. He seems great, but you are 3 for 3 on IUI's so your doc must be fantastic!

After yesterday's IUI, I came to the office and about 4 hours later was really uncomfortable. I had been perfectly fine and then sat down at my desk to work on a report and slowly started to feel more cramping, bloating (I even had to undo my pants) and needed to lay back in my chair so relieve some pressure from my pelvis.
I called the Doc and he said I could take some Tylenol (that 'it's perfectly safe to take even through pregnancy') and return to the office tomorrow if the feeling didn't subside. I left work and went home to bed. Lying on my side was uncomfortable, so I lied on my back and ended up taking a 5-hour nap. HB woke me up concerned I had napped so long!
Today I am feeling right back to normal, so I'm guessing it was just a blip in the radar. Doc told me to come back November 3rd for the pregnancy test, so I'm hoping, hoping, hoping like MAD for a BFP. Sticky vibes, baby dust and good karma appreciated!
Hugs to all, thanks for the support and hoping for BFP's for anyone else who's wanting one!

Good luck and lots of baby dust to Joanne, Courtney, and Amanda!!
RE: bloating and cramping - I didn't have a whole lot of bloating during my pregnancy at all, though I think a lot of women do. The only time I really felt bloated was about 6-7 weeks along when we were on vacation; I was eating poorly (cuz on vacation) and was constipated.
Cramping - yes - tons. And that is very normal in early pregnancy. I started to feel crampy about . . . . maybe 10-12 days past IUI. I didn't want to get my hopes up too much after the procedure, so I had about convinced myself that it wasn't going to work and I kept thinking the crampyness was AF on the way. My breasts started getting tender about 12-13 days past IUI, too, and sure enough it was my BFP.

I just went for my second IUI this morning...I can tell you it is super quick! Less then 5 minutes. It is not more uncomfortable then a PAP test.
This first time I went I had cramping all day....this time had a few cramps right after but am fine...don't worry!
Good Luck to you

Question....I hear IUI but is that the same as Artifice Insemination?
I think so. IUI stands for Intra-Uterine Insemination.
