Scientists say a fault in the way some women’s bodies process hormones could cause these individuals to develop polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), which can cause infertility, miscarriage and obesity as well as excessive hair growth and irregular periods, according to researchers at the University of Birmingham. They say in some cases it could be caused by a fault in the way the body deals with cortisol or testosterone.
