Default dong quai and false unicorn

i am new to the herbal remedies of pcos, but a friend told me about dong quai and false unicorn and cinnamon. she is trying to concieve and we currently are not, but i guess i needed input on what works for my symptoms. i have a period, that lasts over a month at a time, and comes often, and is heavy. so according to the herbal website i visited, i should not take dong quai. i guess my main goal is to regulate my periods naturally since i have no health insurance. any input would be greatly appreciated!!! thanks cysters

False Unicorn will make your periods heavier and longer when you first start using it. It will lighten up in a few cycles.

Are your periods painful too? Do you have any symptoms of PCOS? The symptoms you said you have sound like my son's godmother, and she has severe endo.

Just my 2cents

I had very long (6 weeks) periods, extreme pain where I lived on pain tablets every 4 hours, at least 2 days laying on the couch because of extreme blood clots, cysts on ovaries, you name it. I no longer have any pain at all!! I have not had to take a pain pill for 6 months. Not even for a headache. NOTHING!! My periods (when I do have them) are 5 days and no flooding. Very limited clots. I took U O Clear. If you do a search and type in U O Clear it will come up. I love this stuff and it actually works because I am living proof. I do have cysts still but no pain. It is worth checking out.

no toogasmamma, i don't have any pain. and i do have pcos, almost every symptom, except hair loss.
so ttrumps if i start false unicorn then i can expect to eventually be regular?? sound right?? thanks...i don't think i can afford u-o-clear, and i don't have cramps so it probably wouldn't be worth it for me.

Jess, you my want to try vitex alone. I have been doing some research on all the different PCOS herbs, and vitex is real good for regulating cycles, and getting rid of the annoying PCOS symptoms. It regulates your period length too. I once had a very long period (only one time and it lasted for over a month). I spoke with a "medicine man" and he told me to douche with warm water, and olive oil (I thought he was crazy, but figured what did I have to lose), I tried it and it worked I stopped bleeding the next day, and I have never had long periods again.

Here is a quote from one of the websites that I found for you:

" If a hormonal imbalance is revealed by laboratory testing, hormone replacements that are more “natural” for the body (including tri-estrogen and natural progesterone) are recommended. Glandular therapy can assist in bringing about a balance in the glands involved in the reproductive cycle, including the hypothalmus, pituitary, thyroid, ovarian, and adrenal glands. Since homeopathy and acupuncture work on deep, energetic levels to rebalance the body, these two modalities may be helpful in treating oligomenorrhea(frequent and heavy bleeding). Western and Chinese herbal medicines also can be very effective. Herbs used to treat oligomenorrhea include dong quai (Angelica sinensis), black cohosh (Cimicifuga racemosa), and chaste tree (Vitex agnus-castus). "

Hope this helps you somewhat. I have found that PCOS is so personal and different with every woman, thus your treatment plan for herbal remedies will vary greatly. Try doing a search on the web with "obigomenorrhea PCOS and herbs". That is all I did and got many helpful sites.

Good luck to you.

I just went and bought a small bottle of extra virgin olive oil and put about a teaspoon of it with the warm water. I was not taking any suppliments at the time, and now that I think of it (this was back in 1994) I had pretty regular cycles for quite some time after that too. Every once and a while, I would go two weeks late, but that is expected with us PCOSers. Don't know what it is about olive oil, but it has quite a few healing qualities.
