I was interested in this product at one point but was a little skeptical so thanks for the warning.

I have seen it work. However it probably doesn't work for everyone. ( I am a hairstylist) It did work on my grandmother and a client of a friend, I did see the tiny hairs growing back. I am not sayiong it works for every person, but if it doesn't work for you, you may want to try monoxidil. You should give it longer than a month to work. Hair only grows at a rate of 1/2 inch per month. You can't expect a huge amount of change in just a month. Give it a little more time, like 3 months at least.

I have found that Nioxin is a wonderful product, but that only using the shampoo/conditioner is not fully effective. When combined with the follicle stimulator everyday, I have personally seen it work miracles for my Grandmother who had lost her all of her hair to chemo. She has been using all 3 products for a year now and her hair is thicker than it was before she lost it. I am a licensed hairstylist and I have also seen this work for previous clients. I think if you give it another whirl in combo with the follicle stimulator and give it 4-6 wks you will see a difference.

Good luck!

Once she went off chemo, her hair was probably going to grow back anyway without the treatments. Chemo hairloss is not permanent, and it is extremely common for hair to come back after chemo in a different texture, curl pattern, etc.

But you are right that with any treatment you have to give it time. Hair just plain doesn't grow fast enough for one month of any treatment to give you a good idea if it is going to work or not.

I've seen it work for some people too. (i used to be a hairstylist aswell). It didn't work that great for me, but it worked very well for a friend of mine.

I agree that 1 month isn't long enough to say.

EXACTLY....and in my opinion, a starter kit is the way to go. That way you have all 3 products...it is made to last 3 months and if it doesn't last for 3 months, you are probably using too much. A month is DEFINATELY not enough time to grow it back....it didn't fall out in a month...right? It doesn't claim to be the miracle shampoo...there is no such thing. BTW..I am a hairstylist too...

I have been using it for about 2 months now and I do believe there was improvment. The only issue I had with it is that I had dandruff/ residue that came at about the 6 week mark. I had gotten rid of this issue using Nizoral, but seems when using the Nioxin it came back. So, I exchanged one issue for another...story of my life! For those of you with knowledge of the Nioxin brand, why do you think I got the dandruff/residue with this product? Too much conditioner maybe? Thanks, Jean

I would say to cut back on the conditioner and make sure you are rinsing it out really well...I mean REALLY well...and work it into your scalp really good too....just my opinion.

exactly. Make sure you are really massaging the conditioner into the scalp for about 1 minute, and then rinse really really well. ( Hey sassy, great minds think alike )

Great tips, ladies--I'm switching from Nizoral to Nioxin this month.

I've used Nioxin for about 3 years, now. My hair loss seems to have slowed a bit. I am not sure about new growth. I do know that if I try to use any kind of regular store-bought shampoo that my hair seems to fall out in handfuls, so I am sticking with the Nioxin. I am glad that I saw this thread because I have only been using the shampoo and conditioner. I want to get the follicle stimulator and see if that helps.

Lately the ladies in my salon have been pushing THERAPRO products, claiming that they are better than Nioxin. Has anyone heard of this?

Here's a link that shows the products. I can't seem to find an official THERAPRO website:

I love Nioxin. It is the only shampoo I use - but I also do not shampoo frequently.
