I am honestly doing everything I can. Watching carbs, working out, taking pills. My health is not improving. I feel doomed to the wrath of PCOS.
I feel really guilty about the way I treat other people. People come and talk to me about their problems but nobodys seem to be on the same magnitude as mine. I don't wanna hear it. Quit whining. Get over it. If you want to hear about real problems, try dealing with what we women with PCOS deal with.
I've watched my father succumb to a life of type 2 diabetes and he did all the right things.. walked 5 miles a day, checked his insulin levels daily, took medication, watched his diet, stayed active. He's still suffering now.
I should be better adjusted by now. I feel so immature, but I can't stop this nagging depression. Nobody understands.
Peaches,
I've kind of been feeling like this too. It's so frustrating to do the right things and not see results. I've been doing the Steps Across America thing (30 minutes walking daily) and watching what I eat. Nothing, no weight loss at all. And it's really frustrating to think a couple years ago I was losing 10 lb. a month just exercising 15 minutes daily and watching what I ate. After my pregnancy I just can't seem to get things moving again.
Hang in there, it's so nice to know everyone here understands.
Jenny

I work out at about 5am and I honestly haven't taken the time to add strength training to my workout. I went from 30 to 45 minutes of level 9 cardio and didn't lose a pound in 2 months. I watch refined carbs but not losing weight in the process is a spirit killer, since I continue to get the 'lose some weight' lecture from my doctor.
I will try Omega 3. I've never tried anything but St. John's Wort.
I don't sleep well at all. I have started taking calcium and magnesium and that helps me relax, but I still toss and turn. I worry a lot about my mortality, since I don't have a support system. My therapy sessions are subject to deductible, so I quit going.
So exercise does take the edge off of the depression.. it helps me feel like I can make it through rush hour and lunch, but I appreciate your recommendation for the fish oil and Omega 3. I'll try it. Thanks so much for your support.
The good news is that you're already in the habit of working out, so that's fabulous. By adding strength training, you'll begin to attack the insulin resistance:
How much weight are you trying to lose? Since you say you don't sleep well, could it possibly be you might have sleep apnea? If you have obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), you could be sleep deprived which can also have an impact on weight and depression.

Good point! Women with PCOS have a higher risk of SA - ESPECIALLY if they're overweight.
For those interested in the connection, run a search.
Most people who are treated for SA report feeling like a 'new person'.

Good question. I don't know whether or not I suffer from sleep apnea. I always just thought that I had insomnia because I had so much trouble getting to sleep in the first place. I have heard that sleep deprivation throws off the weight loss process. Since I work close to Duke University and they do quite a few sleep studies, I'll find out if they're doing one that I can participate in.
I'm trying to lose 70 pounds. Sleep apnea could very well be a problem.
