I took my first Met today!! My instructionc were to take one pill a day for seven days and then take one pill twice a day. My question is about the dosage. I've noticed most people start out on 500mg and up it to 1000mg. My pills are 850mg each! Does that sound right? So far no side effects, but I'm waiting for them to kick in. Of course, digestive problems are nothing new to me, after having my gall bladder removed I've had nothing but problems in that area! Now I only have tummy problems after eating a meal high in carbs!
I started 2000 mg right away. I am not sure how the RE determines what dosage someone should take. I have been on Met. for over a year now at the same dosage. Good luck!

...so your Dr has to start somewhere and 850 mg is fine. If you find that your side effects are just insane with that, then you can probably request a drop to 500 mg to start, but i started out on 1500 and it was bearable for me.
Until you get your labs re-tested down the road and see if your chemical levels are changing, you won't know if the dosage is working, and it is not dependant on weight like other drugs. It depends on the sensitivity of the hormone levels in your body.

I wanted to mention that I'm not IR, but we are TTC and wanted tot ry this before moving on to Clomid. The side effects have kicked in I believe. I'm feeling dizzy and terribly nauseas, any pointers on things to help make this feeling go away?
I think that it just takes time. It took my body about six months to get use to it. I was sick every time I ate. I space my pills out, I take 2 in the morning with breakfast and 2 at night with dinner. That seemed to help in the beginning.

If the "gastric thing " gets really intolerable, you can use immodium AD. I had a bit of weird feeling in my stomach too in the beginning, but it goes away with time. I found for me that if I ate too much salad or fruit, oy vey, look out! Eventually, the side effects will pass (literally ), and it will get better, just stick it out. Try to stay away from greasy foods, and high carb stuff, like white flour foods and pastries. What I did in the beginning was, I figured I am on a diabetic drug, so I did a little research into a diabetic's diet. It's not really so much the sugars that are illegal..they watch their carb intake. Check some of the other posts at the top of this forum for some good tips.
