Default dosage of vitex?

Well I went to GNC today and they did not have Vitex, but they did have something just like it. It is a cycle balancer and it is standardized agnus castus. Which is what vitex is plus on the back it says vitex agnus-castus, so I figured I was getting the right thing. This is my first time using it.

Well it says that each pill is 40mg and that seems so low. Plus is says I should only take one a day. I have been seeing other cysters saying they take 1600mg!!WOW what a difference!! So my question is: Am I truly taking the right thing? Should I go get something different. I have already opened this so I am stuck with it. Our walmart doesn't have it, so I would order it online this time. What do you think??

Thanks
~Tracy

Virtex is also know as angus cactus and chaste berry tree so yes i'd say you have the right one. As for dosages i would do what it says on the back of the bottle. I'm sure there are other cysters in your area that r taking it and have bought the higher dose hopefully one will reply to yr post and maybe let you know where to get it from.
HTH

Thank you nikki. I was just worried when mine was telling me such a lower dosage than what other people are taking.

Its hard to say why doses r different on different makes it could be that some are more concentrated than others thats why its not recommended to take more than the rec dose

I purchase my Vitex from GNC and was taking 400mg. I was only experiencing a light spotting for many days so I increased my dosage to 800mg and my cycles are much more balanced.

Hi I just wanted to add when I bought my herbs from GNC the guy told me to keep my reciept and for any reason if I needed to return it wouldn't be a problem Opened or Not.. I would call if you don't think you got the right one. I also called 2 different GNC and they both had 2 different things. One had the womens blend that had some Vitex and other stuff in it. I didn't want that one so I called the next one on the list and they did have Vitex by it self and all the other herbs. HTH!!!

Thank you all.

They will really take it back? I opened it and used one today. I will call them tomorrow and ask about it. I don't want to go in there acting foolish about wanting my money back for an opened used product.
