Default Double vision?

So last night I experienced one of the scariest things I've ever had happen to me before...

I was sitting at the computer and all of the suddent my vision crossed. It was like when you're tired and you let your eyes cross, except I was wide awake and I didn't cross my eyes. I stood up and almost fell because there were two floors. I had to close one eye to dial the phone. I seriously thought I was having a stroke or something...

Now, I'm 33. I just started Met a little over a week ago. I started with one dose (500mg ER) and after 5 days, I upped my dose to 1000mg. I was sick with flu-like symtoms for about 12 hours and then I was queasy on and off for about 24. Then I had one good, normal day. The next night was the double vision night. I should also mention that I have a cold because of this weather change and some sinus pressure. The vision thing could have been a result of that,

BUT I have had sinus issues my entire life, in fact they're better now than they used to be, and I have NEVER had the vision issue before.

I, of course, freaked out. I'm sure that didn't help. And I was alone, so I was even more scared. My vision came back in a couple of minutes and I was really tired all of the sudden, so I just went to bed. This morning I feel sinus pressure in my forehead, but my vision is ok.

I should also mention that I've never had a migraine and I am on induction of a low carb diet. I've lost like 6 pounds in 5 days. So my body is going through a lot of changes right now. Any of these factors might have contributed, but....I'm still a little worried.

Has anybody else experienced this or have a definite explanation for it? Should I call my doc?

When I first started taking met my blood glucose was way out of control. As the met helped to bring it back to normal ranges my eyesight went wonky (technical term there...) for about three weeks. I couldn't drive for two weeks straight because I couldn't see. I couldn't wear my glasses!! I couldn't watch TV or do much online without kissing the monitor. I was totally grounded for the whole time.

It was explained to me that it was because my sugars were changing so much, which was a good thing. So I just dealt with it. Once it went away it was gone for good and there have been no problems ever since.

So if you've just started met it could be that your blood glucose ranges were a bit high and they're coming down now.

Yeah I would keep a close eye on your blood sugar levels too. Try eating smaller meals more often.

Also have you had your blood pressure checked lately? Might be an idea if you haven't.

If none of those apply - could be a product of eye strain... when you use the comp alot you think your eyes are moving but they're not, when you use the cursor to move the screen, you don't realise it but you're focusing on the same spot and it can cause eye strain and vision problems. I had to do exercises awhile back for just that reason.

Good luck - and go and get checked out anyway
