Default Dr. or GYN?

I wanted to speak with my doctor about Met. Find out side effects, pros, cons all that good stuff. I am just not sure if I need to speak with my regular GP or if I need to go back to the GYN that diagnosed me?

Thank you

You might have more luck with your general practicioner (internal med. or family practice doc). I had two different gyn diagnose me w/ PCOS, and both only wanted to try either Provera to regulate cycles or bcp. My gen. doc has been more receptive to the idea of trying to treat with met and actos, instead of bcp.

Good luck!

My gyn diagnosed me, but she didn't want to have any thing to do with the solution. She is sending me to an endo for the prescriptions and any other solution to the problem. She is more concerned that I have no AF, so she wants to fix that and have the endo fix everything else.

My family doctor is the one who put me on met. Also you can talk to a pharmasist about met concerns too. Sometimes they have the most info.

I go to my GP on Thursday, he normally gives me what ever I want anyway. When first diagnosed by my gyn he just told me what I had and told me to lose weight, that would fix it. Never told me much of anything else. This site has helped me so much

I think every doc is different. In the States I had a great GP. . . she took care of everything for me.

Now, I first contacted an Endo. and he told me to go to an Gyn first. Then if the tests from the Gyn came back PCOS, the Endo would see me and give me Met. But, when I saw the Gyn, he was happy to help me and gave me Met. And is excited it is working for me (gave me back AF, less hair loss, less acne, and so on).

So, I say it is important to find a doc you feel comfortable with and feel is giving you the best they have no matter what their speciality.
