thanks to the cysters on these boards i have made an appointment with a specialist, dr. katherine sherif, in philadelphia.
twelve years ago i was diagnosed with PCOS and although i have seen three different ob/gyns. all they have told me to lose weight which i have slowly done but i feel like i need more information than just loose weight... i am worried about the long term affects of pcos on my heart and health.
after reading everyone's inspirational posts, i decided to make an appointment with a specialist recommended on this board.
if any cysters have used this doctor and could tell me what a visit to her is like and/or what to expect, i would greatly appreciate it because i am a little nervous about it...
i know i need to become my own health care advocate so this seemed like a good next step ... i also promised my fiance i would do this for the both of us
No need to be nervous about seeing Katherine Sherif. She is wonderful! Very friendly, very caring and kind..loving. She has a terrific sense of humor also....and you will rarely find anyone who is more informed about PCOS...she really knows her stuff! I am a patient of Katherine's (she will tell you to call her that) for about 8 mos. and also volunteer at her office (the Pcos Center and The Center's for Women's Health). Expect your first appt. to take some time, she may be running a bit late as she does not rush any of her patients and she will take all the time with you that you need. Good luck. If I can help you feel free to email me suzanne@snip.net put re: Katherine Sherif in the subject line....good luck! Suzanne
Women often travel great distances to see Dr. Sherif. I know of one woman who is coming to see her in Aug. from Florida! You'll be glad you chose her....she's the best!
