dr in northwestern michigan hi! ima do the little "*" thingy cuz i tend to ramble and that way, you can skip over the rambles if you want. ANYWAY! i was diagnosed about a year and a half ago by a dr that said basically my treatment options were diet and exercise (duh) and "give me a call when you're ready for clomid." even though i told him i was in line for diabetes (my grandma had it), he only ran a fasting glucose test* and a thyroid function test. i was told that my results were "within normal range," but was never shown the actual numbers.**
um....yeah. so i want to find a dr that actually knows something about pcos and who will do something to help me other than just to get pregnant....but i don't have insurance so i can't afford to just shop around until i find one. i wouldn't mind getting pregnant....in fact i'd LOVE to get pregnant....but i'm more interested in getting healthy and losing weight.***
even if i can't find a dr that knows a lot about pcos, i'd at least like to find one that's open minded AND won't look at me and act like all my health problems are my fault cuz i'm just so fat and lazy. i'm fat cuz there's something wrong with me...and i have no energy cuz i'm fat....or maybe also because of what's wrong with me....i'm really not sure anymore. *anna~rae*
*which i've been told is one of the least accurate for insulin resistance.
**so i don't know if i was smack in the middle or just hanging on to one end! heck, i'm not even sure if i'm convinced i really have pcos and not a thyroid problem.
***it has become apparent that i can't do this on my own - two months of counting calories and avoiding sugar and working out for an hour or more five days a week and i lost like 10 lbs....i'm sorry, i work full time...i don't have time for that - oh, and when i quit being able to go work out all the time, i gained it back in like a week, even though i was still watching my diet. |
