I am new to this site but not new to PCOS. I was reading some previous threads about the lack of PCOS in the media and some of you had spoken about contacting Oprah to no avail. What about the Dr Oz show? Is there a way a whole bunch of us or the PCOSA or whomever as an organization could get his attention? Or maybe a bunch of us could e-mail him? Just a random thought. I never see anything about PCOS in the media but when Oprah had thyroid problems she jumped all over that topic LoL

FYI
I recall in 2007 or early 2008 when Dr. Oz was still with Oprah....they did a show where al the audience members could ask him questions. One lady asked about PCOS. She was not obese but struggled with fertility issues and was very concerned about facial hair.
I did not watch it but a friend called me that night furious because he was so la de da about the symptoms. He said it was an easily treatable condition and all the lady needed to do.....bla bla bla. Basically snap your fingers and your on with your life. The next day I got a call from someone esle who had watched it who did not realise that he had taken a lazy attitude about the condition. My friend was actually snickerdy with me as if I had been exagerating my symptoms. I had to defend my disease....and what I was experiencing.
I ended up carefully watching for if the show would be one that she rebroadcast and it was. I was shocked and appalled at his laise-faire attitude and tone. I recall just sitting and crying at how he made it sound so simple.
Hopefully now that he has an entire hour to fill he would take a more honest, thoughtful and broad approach to our questions.
Good Luck. I would watch it if he did that kind of a show!!

My guess is that he would focus on diet & exercise and possibly some herbs since he is into complementary medicine.
Here is a section from You on A Diet (via Google). I only skimmed it, so I didn't see what he recommends.
He didn't say much. BCP and Glucophage.
I think Dr. Oz is doing good things by trying to raise awareness of a lot of things that most Americans probably don't think about. I'm glad he shouts about fiber from the roof top and encourages consumption of fruits and vegetables. But I have yet to see an episode where something is truly new to me. I think most people who have picked up any information on nutrition would feel the same way.
