Hi,
The Dr. just prescribed prometrium and told me to take it as soon as I found out I have a BFP. Why the prometrium? From what I've read up on it, most women seem to take it to induce AF or as a HRT for post menopausal women. I've read its dangerous to take if PG.
Here's a little history: I'm ttc #1 since 10/04, I've been on met/provera since dec04 when I was dx with PCOS. This week Dr. said mets been working just fine so now its time to start clomid! So I should be starting that sometime near the end of April on D3-7.
Does the Dr. know what she's talking about? Anyone else prescribed this for after they become pg? Could I have just heard her wrong and there is another drug out there that sounds similar to "prometrium"? (It's hard to read those rx) I'm working hard to get this baby, I just want to make sure I keep it.
Sound like he has given you it so when you get your BFP the prometrium is natural progrestrone that will lower you chance of a m/c if you have low progrestrone. Lots of PCOS ladies have low progrestrone and the prometrium helps that out. I am not the knowledgeable about it but I'm sure thats why he gave it to you hopefully some other ladies will be able to help. Trying posting this question in the TTC forum I'm sure lots of ladies will be more help them me just wanted to give you a bump too!
It is to help prevent a miscarriage. How did your doctor prescribe yours? Mine is as a suppository, 100mg and I take it 1 time a day. I have seen most taking it twice a day at 50mg. Just curious what you're taking.

Trying again with clomid and Novarel July / August 2006
i am taking the capsule 200mg 2x a day until i get my period or a BFP... or until day 30. Not sure if that helps, he told me to take it to keep progesterone up to sustain possible pregnancy.

Hi Everyone!
I have a question for those using prometrium to start a period. How long after the last prometrium pill until period is supposed to come. I took 200mg for 12 days and the last one I took was last Friday night, April 8th and still no period. I am anxious as then when period comes, I am to start my first round of clomid on CD 3-7....Any info would be appreciated! Thanks!
Meagan, I am to start my first round of Prometrium (200mg for 10 days) in a little over a week. And my doctor said that most women have AF one or two days after the last pill, but that it can sometimes take up to a week. She told me that if I have not started AF after a week, to call her. So if AF still has not come to visit you, perhaps you should call the doc and see what he/she says. Good luck!!
