I did post this question on the main board about a week ago but didnt really get anywhere. So sorry for asking again, but any advice you have will be soooo welcome.
A little background, I was diagnosed in November with Endo. My doctor but me on anti inflams for the pain ( kinda work ) and a combi birth control pill ( I have'nt had a period in nearly a year )
I have now completed a 3 month BC course and i'm going to the doctors tomorrow.
I had to push for them to do a laparoscopy last September that confirmed the endo. I want them to check for pcos but after the hassle I had before I'm alittle worried.
What should I say? I feel fobbed off so far and I just want to explode at her.
I want to mention pcos because of the lack of periods, I have small amounts of hair growth on my chin, nipple area and a line of hair under my tummy button. ( I know this is nothing compaired to some people ) I feel drained, not just tired but like someone removed my battery after meals. Hormones are all over the place, from wanting to curl up and hide, to kiling people, to over joined to crying. It can be minus 5 outside and i'll still be sweeting ( its gross ) I'm not massively over weight ( have about 2 stone to loose ) but its mostly on my tummy.
Are these symptoms I should mention?
I'm so confused, I just want to feel better before someone desides its better to but me to sleep!
I just dont want to be fobbed off again. Please help.
yes, id suggest saying everything to your dr. What i always do (so i cant forget), it write down everything that i want to ask/say so i cant forget
eva
Thanks Eva.
I just didnt want to go in there and sound like I was blaming everything on endo / pcos.
I'm slowly working my way through the drs at my gp centre. They just dont seem to have a foggy clue.
Thanks again x
I agree with what Eva said. Write yourself a list of what you want to say. I do this to and finds it helps.
My GP was very good and linked my symptoms to PCOS quite quickly and sent me for all the tests to confirm it. My problems started when I went to see the Gynae. A number of times I was in tears after seeing her as her advice was lose weight. I asked a few times to go on Met and was told "no, you can't have that, women with PCOS are only given that if they have been trying for a baby for more than a year at least and then its not normally what we would prescribe!!!!!!!". So armed with my info from Soulcysters I asked and eventually demanded to be referred to an Endochrinologist which she begrugingly did.
The Endo was fantastic and really knew her stuff. She put me on Met no problems and also did bloods for various things including thyroid which it turned out mine was underactive!!!
Anyway I'm going off here. What I wanted to say was sometimes you have to fight for the right treatment, do your research and ask as much as you need to, don't leave feeling you have been fobbed off.
Hope this helps
Lucy

I went to see her yesterday. Not sure if I got the answer I wanted. She asked me when I was going to see my consultant at the hospital again. Told her that they havent been in touch and they gave the impression that I was to deal with her.
She was very good and sympathetic to me, told me I should call the hospital and demand an appointment as I have not been discharged from there care.
I have called the hospital and spoken to a woman that will arrange an appoint for me on monday that will more than likely be sometime in April.
My doctors gave me a different "new" birth control pill and told me there was no more she can do.
I did mention PCOS and she said that she doesnt think i have it as it would have been spotted in the lap that I had, but to maybe ask for a scan to be sure.
Feeling very let down by the whole system right now.
