Ok, my Dr tells me to eat more fruit, if i get hungry, just eat fruit. My dentist has told me that the acid from the fruit has corroded a hole above every single tooth (meaning lots of painful dentistry for me).
My dentist has told me: no sugar, fruit, or acidic food or drink. So what am i supposed to eat?? Cheese? (real good for the diet). It seems like just when things are going good (see ticker below) that something comes along to mess it up. *sigh*. So what do i do? Eat healthily and have my teeth fall out as a result? Or look after my teeth and die as a result? At 17 (nearly 18) i don't want to be facing this.

{{HUGS}} How about eating fresh vegetables when you get hungry? Low fat meats are another option. Maybe you can have some lower acid fruits (nothing citrus), and then immediately brush your teeth to remove any of the residue.
Hang in there!!

yes i agree with the others, vegetables have less sugar than fruit, in general. or rinsing your mouth or brushing after you eat fruit should help. you may not want to use toothpaste every time. you could rinse with listerine or something like that, which kills bacteria. i'd think if you're eating a balanced diet that is best. not too much of any one thing. i also find that if i brush or gargle listerine after i eat, i'm less prone to snack between meals because you have that "fresh mouth" feeling. maybe that's just me.

for one i know the dentist here, told my step daughter that she had 7 cavitys. What she actually had was 4 cavitys and 3 that could go to cavitys if she didn't build up on the flouride and keep brushing them, they were soft spots.
I would look at getting a second oppinion and ask them to show you where the wholes are. Dont jus ttake one dentist word for the word of god.
Your doing wonderful on your weight lose.Don't give up, if you eat fruit when you are done go in and rinse your mouth with a good mouth rinse, which will help with the eating at your teeth.

I agree, I would just rinse your mouth after eating the fruit.....and second opinions never hurt either.
You are doing great!! Keep it up!!

I agree with everyone else, try veggies and rinsing/brushing your teeth after eating fruit. Maybe you could try seeing a nutritionist to get a personalized plan.
Good luck.

i have seen the holes, the dentist showed my my x-rays. vegetables are good...just i have to cook mine, i absolutlety cannot eat raw veggies. I don't like carrot! My veggies are asparagus, cabbage, broccoli, couliflower, swede (turnip), that's about it. I will eat (raw) lettuce and celery occasionally.
The only fruit i really enjoy is citrus. Pineapple (i can et this til my mouth is sore), oranges, satsumas, and i do like berries. Bananas and apples just dont do it for me.
I chew a lot of gum (3-4 packets a week) and i brush my teeth twice a day. I try to rinse my mouth with water after eating, just don't always get the chance (if i'm at work ect.).
Just wish my teeth were as strong as they used to be.

There is a new toothpaste out that supposedly replaces lost enamel. I cannot remember which brand.
